Meaning
Mary and her son, and the devil and his minions, will be enemies.
Mary’s son will be wounded but will defeat evil.
Jesus begins his redemptive mission earlier than he wanted because of his mother’s request.
His “hour” is his Passion and
Death.
Jesus gives his mother and his beloved disciple to each other as mother and son. This is also understood to signify that Christ is giving Mary to be the mother of the entire Church.
Mary is the great queen who gives birth to Jesus Christ, the great king who will rule the whole world.
They are unsuccessfully attacked by the devil. The woman is also the pilgrim Church in exile in the wilderness of this world.

What is a dogma?
It is a solemn definition of one of the Church’s doctrines. Extension:
“Solemn” in this context means “formal,” or “in due legal form.”

They are the result of the Church’s continued reflections on the Deposit of Faith in regard to the person of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the privileges given to her by Christ, her Son.

A type is a foreshadowing of something, whereas an archetype is a perfect model. She does not foreshadow what the entire Church will become, but she is already an example of what the Church will be.

hyperdulia, or extreme honor, given to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
