The Children of Lir

Bodb Derg was king of Tuath De
Danann. He had four beautiful children.
Fionnuala, Fiachra, Conn and Aodh was
the name of the children.
• The Children lived with their
father the King.
• They lived in a beautiful
castle.
• When their Mother Aoibh
died Bodb was very sad.
• Bodb remarried the
beautiful Aoife.
• At first Aoife loved the children but then she
realised that Bodb loved them more than her.
• Then one day she took the children out to the
lake.
• As she watching the children she waved her
magic wand over them and turned them in to
swans .she left them with their voices and the
gift of song.
Aoife cast a spell. That the children would be
swans now for 900 years. The children would
spend 300 years on Lough Derravaragh.300
years on Inishglora and 300 years in the sea
of Moyel.
When Aoife went back to the castle she said
that the children had been killed by wild
boars. When Bodb went out to the lake
Fionnuala told her father that Aoife had cast
a spell on them. Their father was furious
when he told aoifes father lir what she had
done lir had he turned into an ugly moth.
Their dad visited his
children every day on
Lough Derravaragh
until he died. When his
children found out they
were very sad.
Then the children 300
years were over in
Lough Derravaragh .
Then they went to the of
Moyel for another 300
years. They flew back to
were their father had
lived. They saw that it
was ruined.
When their final 300 years was
up in the Sea of Moyel. They left
for Inishglora Island. They met a
man that was a monk . He was
the man they needed to change
back to people.
