Powers, Meanings and Effects of the Daily Nitnem Bania
Whosoever recites the forty pauris of this Bani will have
endless bliss, because the Guru is limitless. In this
Bani, mind and body are explained in relation to cosmic
divinity. Sri Guru Amar Das Jee gave us this Song of
Bliss to qualify the mind and to understand the depth.
Husband and wife should get together, recite it
together, alternating sutra (lines). It is also chanted at
all religious ceremonies of the Sikhs irrespective of the
nature of event, be it a marriage or death. In the
beautiful composition and with the Grace of Sri Guru
Amar Das Jee, the mind and soul of a true Sikh
remains steadfast and goal oriented in all
circumstances of life. In an awakened mind with Guru
Consciousness and intoxicated with the Nectar of
Naam, one is always tuned with the Sweet Will of the
Lord in all ups and downs of life, in pain and pleasure
alike. His is a mind which is ever luminous with Guru
Consciousness and is in perpetual intoxication of Naam
and Amrit Bani, accepting without question the Hukam
of the Almighty. All Dukh (Pain) and Sukh, (Pleasure)
appear as the same to the devoted Sikh of the Guru.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee’s blessing is that the thirtyeight pauris of this Bani will liberate humanity from
the cycles of birth and death. It is the first sacred
composition found in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. It is
a famous and concise summary of Sikh philosophy
which was compiled by the founder of Sikhi and the
first spiritual guide of the Sikhs known worldwide as
Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee. The title of this Bani means
to ‘recite’/‘to ‘chant’/'to stay focused onto' and the
second part of the title means ‘grace’.
BANI:…………………………………………
This Bani composed by tenth Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind
Singh Jee. It is also a part of evening prayer of the Sikhs
called Rehraas sahib. The Bani can be read at any time
during the day to provide protection, positive focus and
energy. It is short composition which usually takes less
than about 5 minutes to recite at a slow pace; it is written
in simple Punjabi language and can be easily understood
by most speakers of this language. The Bani offers
protection and security and many Sikhs recite this Bani to
gain spiritual safety and defence from external and
internal enemies, worries and afflictions. The Gurmukhi
text is very powerful and gives one self-confidence and an
upbeat feeling. This Bani gives one the feeling of reliability
and dependability on the Lord. If one has negative feelings
and a lack of confidence in the future, one should recite
this Bani to get an instant boost.
Below are the commencing 4 Couplets of 27 of this prayer
Please guard us with Your Hands. All my heart's desires
are fulfilled. My mind is focused on Your Feet. Sustain us
as Your Own.(1)
Destroy all my enemies. With Your Hands protect me. In
Bliss remains my household, servant, Sikh, O Creator! (2)
Give me your personal protection. Restrain all my
adversaries, today. You’ve fulfilled my Wishes. My Thirst
for Your Worship grows. (3)
Leaving You, may I never worship another. All my needs, I
get from You. You save my Sikhs & Devotees. One-byOne you demolish my foes. (4)

Powers, Meanings and Effects of the Daily
Nitnem Bania
This Bani is done before sleep at night. It is the most harmonious Naad
ever uttered. It multiplies the aura to the sensitivity of protection that it
eliminates any negativity for miles and miles. When you are
endangered by any species of direct or indirect source; when you want
to protect yourself with the surrounding of the entire magnetic field of
the earth, recite this Bani. Three Sikh Gurus – Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee,
Sri Guru Ram Das Jee and Sri Guru Arjan Dev Jee contributed five
shabads in total to this Bani on the pain of separation and celebrating
the bliss of union.

Powers, Meanings and Effects of the Daily Nitnem Bania
The Naad of this Bani rouses the soul and the self of
the Being. This Bani is is made up of 199 verses and
is the first Bani of the Sri Dasam Granth Jee. The
language of this Bani, is close to the classical
(languages of India) with words and compounds
drawn from Sanskrit, Brij Bhasha and even Arabic
and Persian. Most of the verses point to the fact that
one can only describe God by describing what God is
not. As all these verses are in the form of rhymed
couplets, the vocabulary and ingenuity of the poet
are superb. The second part of the title of this Bani
means 'grace'. Recite it when your position is
endangered, or when your authoritative personality is
weak. This Bani brings grace and greatness. It will
also give you the ability, that whatever people say,
you will automatically be able to compute what they
are actually saying. And, once you are able to recite
it correctly, it will give you the power, the Siddhi, that
whatever you say, must happen through the power of
this Bani. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee recited this
Bani so that we would not become beggars at the
doors of others.
BANI:…………………………………………
This Bani is recited after one has worked and is tired. It adds energy
(raa-hu) to one's being, to one’s total concept. Also, recite it when your
principle of worldly wealth is endangered. In Naad, reh means live, and
raas means commodity. This Bani helps you: when you are physically
weak, or weak in money, property and earthly goods.
BANI:……………………………………………………….
Spoken by Sri Guru Gobind Singh Jee this Bani tells us how to worship
and realise God. This Bani appears in the Sri Dasam Granth Jee. One
pangtee from this Bani says:
Sach kahon sun leho sabai jin prem kio tin hee prabh paio.
All should listen to this truth that only those who love God can realize
Him. (9) I speak Truth, all should turn their ears towards it: he, who is
absorbed in True Love, he would realize the Lord.
When you are not getting any satisfaction out of life, this is the Bani to
recite.
