C: We gather to worship in the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Spirit, our God, our
creator, our redeemer, who walks
with us and promises to be with us
every step of our lives. Amen

excitement mounts, and for those who
are journeying to families,
arrangements are finalised, clothes
sorted, gifts wrapped and labelled.

Two thousand years ago and more, a
pregnant girl called Mary visited her
cousin Elizabeth who was also
expecting.

R: As soon as they greeted each other,
the baby in Elizabeth's womb kicked
out, and she interpreted this as a sign
from God that Mary was greatly
blessed, because she believed that all
God had promised would be fulfilled in
her life.

R: Father God, when we consider your
servant Mary, what we see is a
humility and obedience that is so often
lacking in our own lives.

R: As we hear your Word again, and
consider the one through whose body
you entered this world, remind us of
the meaning of humility and grant us a
confidence of faith that knows your

CONFESSION OF SIN
M: Friends in Christ:
In this Advent Season we are called to
repent, for the Kingdom of heaven is at
hand. So let us confess our sins to
God our Father, because Jesus Christ
has come to forgive us our sins.

year, as we think of the year
passing, we see the reality of the
world, hunger, poverty, loneliness,
disease, emptiness and despair.
Our best efforts seem to change
nothing. We are ready to give up.

you would enable us to see the
signs of your breaking through the
tinsel and glitter we use to hide
behind. Help us to face reality with
patience and hope instead of
becoming indifferent to the world's

coming as you clean up the clutter
of our lives and create a welcoming
space for your presence in our
lives.
Forgiveness OF SIN
M: Hear the Good News! God has
forgiven you through the birth, life,
death and resurrection of our Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ. Receive God's
forgiveness by believing this Good
News. Through Christ, God calls each
one of us to take our parts in the story
of God's love and care, the journey of
discipleship.

C: Lord Jesus Christ, you call us to
join the journey and you enable us
to begin again and again. We come
in our own different ways, walking
in our own styles, at our own
speeds. Yes, we come to join the
journey, we come to be your
disciples.

future for us: a future of adventure and
risk, that demands endurance and

only marvel that Salvation comes to us

2nd Reading
R: The 2nd Reading is written in chapter
4 of 1st Timothy beginning at verse 6.

you teach these things to other
followers, you will be a good servant of
Christ Jesus. You will show that you
have grown up on the teachings about
our faith and on the good instructions
you have obeyed.

7Don't
have anything to do with
worthless, senseless stories. Work
hard to be truly religious. 8-9As the
saying goes,
"Exercise is good for your body,
but religion helps you in every way.
It promises life now and forever.”

These words are worthwhile and should
not be forgotten. 10We have put our
hope in the living God, who is the
Saviour of everyone, but especially of
those who have faith. That's why we
work and struggle so hard

because you are young. Set an
example for other followers by what
you say and do, as well as by your
love, faith, and purity.

C: We believe in God, the one who
comes before us and goes behind
us, creating life and opportunities to
love and care for the world.
We believe in Jesus Christ who walks
with us into real life each day. He is
God, yet human like us and
experienced all life's joys and pains
and challenges like we do.

stop it. Today our Lord Jesus lives
