Leiden University is celebrating. Care to join us?
9.00-16.30 hrs Pieterskerk
Leiden University is 440 years old this year, and we’d like to include you in
our celebrations. This anniversary celebration is centred around Freedom:
freedom of expression, freedom of belief and freedom for personal
development. What does freedom mean to you? And what would a birthday
be without a birthday treat? So be sure to pay a visit to the anniversary
stand in the Pieterskerk for a tasty snack.
On the way to the Sweat Room
9.00-16.30 hrs Pieterskerk
You’ve only really graduated if your name graces the Leiden University
Zweetkamer (Sweat Room). It is a tradition for new graduates to sign
their name on the walls of this room. What about yours? You get a unique
opportunity to do this at the Open Day. Come to the Information Market in
the Pieterskerk and have your picture taken in the Sweat Room. You will also
receive a special gift for the occasion.

An exclusive Open Day offer: enjoy lunch at the National Museum of Antiquities
café or pick up a take away lunch pack. Have some time left? Then check out the
2000-year-old Egyptian temple in the entrance hall. If you show this flyer you can
visit the exhibitions free of charge! Your parents may accompany you by either
using their Museum Card or by purchasing a ticket.

Lunch: taste the delights of Leiden
See map for lunch locations
Discover what a fun and delicious city Leiden is with a lunch for €10 or less at
one of the town’s many restaurants. The lunch location at the National Museum of
Antiquities is offering free admission to school pupils who show their programme
booklet. Lunch is also available at two other Leiden University locations (Lipsius
and KOG) between 11.30 and 13.30 hrs. More information can be found at

The beauty of Leiden really shines from the water! At each of the four pick up
points, you can hop on or off one of the boats. Each boat has a different theme:
history & knowledge, music & culture or the student boat. Let the boat take
you around the canals to the various locations while listening to famous Leiden
speakers, singer-songwriters and students.
Tour of the city with students
