What is Project Date?
Project Date is a date/acquaintance rape and
sexual assault prevention program.
We are sponsored by the University
Counseling Services and Valley Trauma
Center
Our mission is to educate our campus
community about issues relating to rape and
sexual assault and eventually reach the goal
of making CSUN a rape free environment

General Rape Statistics
1 in 3 females will be assaulted by the time they are 18
1 in 4 females over 18 are sexually assaulted

Freshmen females are at highest risk of being raped or sexually
assaulted, especially during the first 6 weeks of the new academic
year
1 in 12 college men have unknowingly committed an act that meets

Acquaintance Rape Stats
About 75% of the men and at least 55% of the women involved in
acquaintance rape has been drinking or taking drugs just before the
attack
84% of women who have been assaulted, knew the man that attacked
them, with more than half of these assaults happening on dates
42% of the rape victims told no one about their assaults
41% of rape victims say that they expect to be raped again
84% of men who committed rape said that what they did was definitely
not rape
38% of women who had been raped were 14, 15, 16 or 17 years old at
the time of their assault

How to Prevent Sexual
Assault
Trust your feelings
Don’t allow room for misinterpretation when you say “No”
keep control of your environment
Use the buddy system
Never force anyone to have sex, even if it seems like they are“leading” you on
“No” means “NO”
Speak up if you are getting a double message from someone
Don’t assume that you know what the other person wants
