For A-Level and BTEC 1st year students
Progression Day is a half day event designed to support your research
onto your next steps progression; whether it will be university,
employment, an apprenticeship or a gap year. There are more than 100
external speakers coming to Brock for our Progression Day and it is an
invaluable step in helping you to move forward successfully.
Attendance is compulsory and you are asked to plan your morning by
booking seven different talks.
Two of the talks are mandatory: you must attend:
1. The key note speech &
2. Either the Registering on to UCAS OR the Registering onto
Employment websites
The other five talks can be any you choose
How to choose and book your seven talks:
1. Go to e.brock.ac.uk
2. Log in: using your College username and College password - if you need your password
changed, please visit the IT Services Hatch in M07B in the Main Block to reset your password
3. Once logged in, click on the Progression Day logo on the front page
4. Click on Overall Sessions Schedule to view all the talks so that you can plan your seven choices
5. Make your seven choices (including the Key Note speech and either Registering on the UCAS or
Employment sites).
Please do this soon - before 18th June
Once you have completed this you will see your e.brock calendar

You will be able to view the seven sessions you are booked onto. Remember: you can go
back in and change any sessions if you need to

It is suggested you make a note of the session names, times and rooms so you can be on
time to each talk on the day
Classical Civilisation
Are you looking for a new subject to study next
year?
Have you considered AS Classical Civilsation?
AS Classical Civilisation is a challenging and rewarding subject that gives you the opportunity to
explore the worlds of Ancient Greece and Rome. Classical Civilisation is an academic A level highly
valued by universities.
If the subject fires your interest, then provided you have B grades in GCSE English Language and
GCSE English Literature you may like to consider the full A Level in one year.
It allows to engage with the literature, beliefs, customs and ideas that have shaped modern European
Civilisation.

Don’t forget that you can now apply for Financial Support for
September 2014 if you are intending to continue your study.
If you were eligible for funding this year, you must reapply to
be assessed for Sept 2014.

Return of loan equipment
Could students who have loaned
equipment such as laptops, alphasmart
keyboards or digital recorders from Skills
Development and who no longer need
them, please return the items to the Skills
Development department upstairs in the
LRC.
