Planning Notice of Intent (PNOI)
O The purpose of the PNOI is to announce the
intent to develop a degree program.
O The PNOI should be 2 -3 pages.
O After UWB review, the PNOI is sent to UWS
Academic Affairs and public baccalaureates
are notified of proposed new degrees and
majors via ICAPP.

Affairs and Planning, academic units submit a full
proposal.
O The proposal should indicate confirmation of faculty
review and approval of the new program.
O A new graduate degree proposal must include all items
in the TOC, a cover sheet and appendices .

O How long does it take to get a new degree approved?
12 – 18 months; (Planning chart included in PWB)
O When is a Form 1503 required?
It is required for new undergraduate degrees, majors,
minors, and certificate programs, or substantive
changes to the same of a non-routine nature.
O Who makes changes to proposal requirements?
Undergraduate – GFO EC; Graduate – Grad School
