THE
INDIVIDUAL LEARNING AGREEMENT IS A VERY
IMPORTANT DOCUMENT FOR PLANNING AND ASSESSING A
LEARNING PROGRAM.
AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE LEARNER AND THE
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGER / FACILITATOR THAT GUIDES BOTH
OF THEM THROUGH THE WHOLE LEARNING PROCESS.
The Flexible Learning Style used in this system helps the
learners meet their individual learning goals.
FLEXIBILITY in this context means that the out-of-school
youth and adult learners can decide on what they will learn
,when they will learn, and how they will learn.
Learning needs are written as learning goals on the
Individual Learning Agreement [ILA]
INDIVIDUAL LEARNING
GOALS
The things that the learner sets to achieve
for a specific period of time
 Provide the benchmark againts which the
learners can access their own progress in
the program
 Help determine what learning modules,
activities and time frame will be used in
the learning program.

ILA IS A KEY INSTRUMENT TO MEASURE
LEARNING’S PROGRAM
The learner’s broad learning goals and
specific learning objectives;
 The things the learner plans to do to
achieve his/her learning objectives; and
 The time frame for learning or achieving
them.

Long-Term Learning Goals
“to get a job”
 “to get a high school certificate”
 “to learn to get along with people better”
 “to get a driver’s license”
 “to learn how to take better care of the
environment”
 “to enter a TESDA training program”
 “to get into college”

Short-Term Learning Goals
 “to
read a letter from my uncle”
 “to write to my daughter in Saudi”
 “to read the Bilbe or Koran”
 “to know what foods are healthy for
my children”
I would like to be
able to read the
Bible, to participate
more in church and
to help my six year
old daughter do
well in school.
ENABLES THE INSTRUCTIONAL

STEP 4 :
Signing the Individual learning
Agreement
ILA

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT THE LEARNERS AND THE
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGER / FACILITATOR SIGN
THE ILA AFTER IT IS COMPLETED.

SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT WILL
REMIND THE
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGER / FACILITATOR OF
HIS / HER COMMITMENT TO THE LEARNER AND
HIS / HER ROLE TO ACHIEVE THE STATED
LEARNING GOALS.
SIGNING THE INDIVIDUAL
LEARNING AGREEMENT
By asking the learner to sign the
Individual Learning Agreement, the
Instructional Manager / Facilitator
is helping the learner to make a
commitment to his / her learning
program.
Yes, You can change it or make a new one.
You can change it:
 When you think you have finished learning a
topic or
 When you want to learn something else.
During the learning process you and your
Instructional Manager will look at / review your
learning agreement at least every two weeks.

Signing the learning agreement will:
– Remind you of your commitment to the
learning process
– Remind your instructional manager of his /
her responsibility to help you reach your
learning goals
GO TO PEOPLE
LOVE WITH THEM
LIVE WITH THEM
LEARN WITH THEM
LINK YOUR KNOWLEDGE WITH THEIRS
START WITH WHAT THEY HAVE
WHEN YOU FINISH YOUR JOB
THE PEOPLE WILL SAY
WE DID IT ALL BY
OURSELVES
Thank You !
God Bless !
