Background
• 1991-96: ILS are in the origins of the CBUC
• 2001-04: We defined the need for a new ILS
– To manage traditional library
– To manage digital library
• 2005-07: tender and implementations
– (Corinthian) – Millennium
– SFX / MetaLib
• 2009: We examined the 1st discovery tools
– AquaBrowser, Encore, WorldCat Local, Summon
– We decide to put our money to create an consortial borrowing system

• SFX woks well
• MetaLib did not evolve
• Ex-Libris create 3 new products
– Primo, Primo Central, Primo User Interface
• ExLibris offered PUI as a MetaLib evolution
– Without additional cost
– We take it as an opportunity, not after a detailed
examination of all the discovery’s in the market

• Includes:
– A lot of journal articles
• > 90% BDC journals
– Quite e- books
– Some open DB
• Does not includes:
– Commercial DB

The CBUC plan
• To set up a central PUI with:
– All x All resources
– Some x Some resources
– Open journals (DOAJ, PubMed, ...)
• Some institution s(4-5) will install local PUIS’s
• To open an study period (2012) to examine
new discovery tools (Primo, Summon,
WorldCat Local, etc. )
