Foundation stage and use of the
symbol and supporters
• Foundation stage recognition process does allow LDAA
supporters to use the symbol
• Working to ensure that the actions supporters commit to are
reflected in annual self-assessment
• LDAAs don’t need to be co-terminus with one DFC
• There are DFCs that are not registered with the recognition
process or have a LDAA but we are working to map this and
promote both initiatives in tandem to get alignment
Next phase of the DFC
programmes work together
• BSI project to develop a code of practice for DFCs
• Task and finish groups that are part of the PM Champion Group
on DFCs – e.g. guidance for retail sector, employers etc.
• Promoting dementia –friendly initiatives e.g. hospitals and
environments
• Jointly commissioned guidance notes and resources
• Contributing to DAA quarterly and Annual events and webinars
Sustainability of the LDAAs and
DFCs
• Dementia Action Alliance / Alzheimer’s Society to continue
following end of the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia
• Evaluation of the Local Dementia Action Alliance Programme
• Engagement with the senior politicians ahead of General
Election
• Continued use of website and invitation to Annual Event
• Building up DAA Secretariat Network to share good practice
• Considering options:
•
•
•
Local members asked to contribute to local activity
Local Authorities / Clinical Commissioning Groups
Sponsorship of regional events
DAA-wide impact survey
• 5 years of the National Dementia Strategy and 4 years
of the National Dementia Declaration
• 96 Local Dementia Action Alliances / 1,500 members
• Consultation and measuring progress locally
