The aim and objectives of the Report
The aim:
To report on the current situation at the EU level
and at the Member States level in implementing
the objective 1 of the area K: Women and the
Environment of the Beijing Platform for Action
(BPfA) and to introduce possible indicators in
this area
The aim and objectives of the Report
The objectives:
• To produce a literature review on gender and climate change, with
special emphasis on women’s involvement in decision making
related to climate change and segmentation of education by gender;
• To collect and analyse data regarding gender and decision making
process related to climate change and segmentation of education by
gender in areas of natural sciences and technology
• To propose indicators for area K on basis of available data
• To collect the MS policy initiatives related to climate change in
sectors of transport and energy and o analyze them from the
perspective of gender equality
The outcomes:
• A data base with the data and information collected for the
Report
• A Report
• A Summary Report addressed to non-experts
• An Analysis Report
Timeframe for the development of the
Report
1. June 2011: Contract signed; duration 9 months.
2. September 2011: Interim report received and
discussed in the meeting of the Working Group
on Beijing indicators
3. End of October 2011: Final report will be
submitted to EIGE. On basis of the submitted
document, EIGE will prepare a report on Women
and the Environment
4. Beginning of December 2011: the report will be
sent for comments to the members of the HLG
on GM
Timeframe for the development of the
Report
5. Middle of January 2012: send to the HLG on
GM a revised version of the report with
included changes
6. End of January: EIGE will include last
changes based on the comments and
suggestions coming from the members of the
HLG on GM
7. Beginning of February: EIGE will adopt and
make public the Report on Women and the
Environment in the EU and the EU Members
States.
