Things to Know!
• Please sign agendas daily
• Students are to read nightly for 30 minutes. Record books read on a reading log with time and
parent initials each day. Any reading assignment can be counted toward the 30 minutes.
• Practice weekly Spelling words- http://spellingcity.com/sbrickey
• Practice math skills we are learning on IXL.com
• Remember to send in Box Tops!
• We are working on the 5 and 6 multiplication facts this week. Please make sure your child is
studying multiplication tables well enough to take timed tests at no more than 3 seconds per fact
or answer 50 facts in 2-1/2 minutes.
• Visit my teacher’s page to access educational links to practice skills we are learning across the
curriculum

Skills for the Week:
Reading: Craft and Structure
ELACCRL3: Describe characters in a story (e.g., their traits, motivations, or feelings) and
explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events.
ELACC3RL5: Refer to parts of stories, dramas, and poems when writing or speaking about
a text, using terms such as chapter, scene, and stanza; describe how each successive part
builds on earlier sections.
Grammar: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and
usage when writing or speaking
ELACC3L2d-Form/use possessive and plural nouns
ELACC3L1b: Form and use regular and irregular plural nouns.
Writing: Text Types and Purposes
3W2a: Introduce a topic and group related info/include illustrations when useful
Math: Multiplication and Division
MCC3.OA.7 Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the
relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 x 5=40, one knows 40
: 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of grade 3, know from memory all
products of two one-digit numbers.
MCC3.NBT.3 Multiply one-digit whole numbers by multiples of 10 in the range 10-90
(e.g. 9 x 80, 5 x 60) using strategies based on place value and properties of operations.
MCC3.NBT.2 Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based
on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and
subtraction.
