• Battle for the Spanish Crown!
• A previously signed treaty VS Charles II’s (Spain) Will
• Louis XIV accepts Charles’ will, thus making him
leader of the Spanish Crown, its empire AND of
course still France...WOW!!
• Being that “Balance-of-Power” is now the cause for
war in Europe (remember, religion as a cause for war
ended with the end of 30 Years’ War), the countries of
the Netherlands, England, Austria and Prussia(HRE)
form the GRAND ALLIANCE against King Louis XIV
• Louis is ultimately defeated and the dual-monarchy of
Spain/France never comes to be....
