The Touched saga
ELISA S. AMORE
What are you willing to sacrifice when the only person that can save you ...
is the same person that has to kill you?
Told over five books, the story of Evan and Gemma is a magical, adventurous
fight for survival, but, above all, is an intense and overwhelming love story. An
inner journey, in which the protagonist crosses Heaven and Hell to redeem
her life and the lives of those who loves, revealing worlds never discovered
before. Developed from a Norwegian legend, Touched is about to offer a new
vision of Angels in Urban Fantasy, with a plot that doesn’t draw on apocryphal
and religious texts, a plot which thickens and intensifies throughout the saga
to talk about new parallel worlds, where the Angels play a role very different
from the norm.
One of the characteristic elements of the saga is the opposition of another
leading figure to that of the Subterraneans: the Witch, a charmed creature
related to evil ever since its creation, although the line between good and evil
is constantly overturned. The role of the Witch will be further analyzed, especially in the third book, in which the protagonist is forced to come to terms
with her true nature.
Although the Touched saga follows a romantic theme, it is not aimed exclusively at a female audience, as it is full of action, magic, adventure and even
motor racing (a new element in this kind of novel), ruthless fights and new,
mysterious and dark places, as well as love, sacrifice and death. It is aimed
at a target audience that ranges from younger adolescents to a more mature
audience.
In every book, the point of view of the narrator shifts between Evan and
Gemma, enabling the reader to discover the protagonists’ emotions directly
through their thoughts.

One look, and Gemma Bloom realizes that her life will never be the same.
She has no idea of who that boy is, yet she can’t stop thinking of him, of his
enigmatic smile and of his eyes, as passionate as the stormy sea.
Evan too is bewitched by Gemma, he feels an immediate yet very strong bond
between them.
It could be the beginning of a perfect love story, but Gemma is consumed by
doubts. There is something dark in Evan, something that scares her. Is this
because, at times, Gemma is the only one who notices the presence of Evan,
while he is invisible to other people?
And why some people were found dead, shortly after being seen with him?
One thing is certain: Gemma knows that her life depends on Evan. It is
indeed so... though not in the way she imagines. The fate of Gemma is sealed,
her time is running out. It is the mission of Evan to accompany her into the
Realm of the Deads. But everything is different this time. This time Evan has
to make a painful choice: he either has to obey orders and kill the woman he
loves so much, or he has to defy the laws of both Heaven and Hell to save her.
A publishing phenomenon even before its publication, La carezza del destino
combines disruptive passions with secrets that can’t be revealed, impossible
decisions and powerful emotions. The result is a love story as intense as the
feelings that bind Evan and Gemma, while Fate impends over them.

CAMILLA BARESANI
Tough, relentless, corrosive: Il sale rosa dell’Himalaya tells the story of Giada,
a thirty year old living in Milan.
The novel begins on February 13, 2013; it’s raining and the young woman is at
home, she is waiting for a very important, indeed, crucial guest.
Dinner is ready, but Giada - on a whim - decides to go out to buy some Himalayan pink salt.
She wears high heels, she walks talking on the phone, she is in a hurry, she is
going to meet a man who can change her life... Suddenly two strangers come
into the scene: Giada’s life will never be the same. This is the beginning of the
story.
Giada is very ambitious. She is smart and she is clever, yet others are smarter.
Her struggle to be a successful and famous PR becomes Giada’s struggle
against the world.
The conflict is not only against sworn enemies, but against enemies that are
hidden everywhere, even where people least expect them.
There is no love, no eroticism, no seduction in this novel. There are betrayal,
violence and oppression. Described with a detached and ironical tone by
Camilla Baresani, Il sale rosa dell’Himalaya has a strong narrative tension, till
the beautiful and surprising, unexpected end.

DONATO CARRISI
This novel is not only a journey into the secrets of Rome, the most famous and
yet most mysterious, unknown city in the world.
It’s not just a plunge into the most hidden and unexplored elements of our
minds.
This novel is about a man who has nothing - no identity, no memory, no love
nor hatred – nothing but his talent. And the secret talent of Marcus is to find
and identify anomalies and feel the presence of Evil.
This novel is about a woman who is trying to start everything over. Sandra
works too on the crime scenes, but, unlike Marcus, she has not to be undercover, she does not need to hide herself; Sandra is a photo-detector of the police.
Her talent is to photograph the void, the empityness and to make it visible.
This is the novel of a killing spree that responds to a design, awful and yet
seductive, while Rome is in the background, evocative and extraordinary.
Donato Carrisi was born in 1973 in
Martina Franca and lives in Rome.
He studied Law, majoring in Criminology and Behavioral Science. He then

“Have you ever desired to disappear?”
It is a feeling that everyone, sooner or later, has experienced: the desire to
disappear. To escape from it all. To leave each and every thing behind.
But for some people it is not just a momentary lapse. It becomes an obsession,
that devours and swallows them. These people disappear into the darkness.
No one knows why or how. And soon almost everybody forget them.
But not Mila Vasquez, for she is always surrounded by their looks. Every time
she enters in the missing persons office - The Limbo - hundreds of eyes keep
staring at her from the photos that cover the walls of the Room of Lost Steps.
Unable to forget people vanished into thin air, she brings the signs of darkness
on her skin too, like red flowers rooted in her soul.
Maybe that’s why Mila is the best in what she does: to hunt those lost souls,
forgotten by the rest of the world.
But what if some of those disappeared suddenly come back with obscure
intentions?
Mila realizes that, to stop this army of shadows, clues are useless and investigations simply not enough.
She must give the darkness a shape, and a ratio, to build a solid and convincing hypothesis... The Hypothesis of Evil.

Arrigoni e l’omicidio di via Vitruvio
Arrigoni and the Murder in Via Vitruvio
DARIO CRAPANZANO
Milan, March 1953: Flavio Villareale, fifty, actor, director and owner of the
Imperial Theatre, an elegant Art Nouveau building nearby the Central Railway
Station, is found dead in his apartment in via Vitruvio, a short walk from the
theater.
Umberto Calcaterra, partner of Flavio and administrator of the theater, found
the corpse. The medical examiner discovers the unmistakable signs of a death
by suffocation: Flavio Villareale was killed.
Commissario Arrigoni is summoned to the crime scene on the way back from
the never ending celebration of the marriage of his deputy, Salvatore Mastrantonio, aged 54, not very smart and newly married. As Mastrantonio goes to
the honeymoon, Arrigoni is assisted by the brilliant inspector Giovine.
The interrogations highlight the personality of the victim, a brilliant artist, yet
a bad person: Flavio Villareale was always horny and devoted to sadomasochistic practices; he did not hesitate to exploit his charm and his position to
seduce every beautiful woman he met.
And this is only the beginning. Villareale’s past is also full of shadows: the victim was a devoted to Mussolini, and rumors say he had denounced opponents
of the Fascist regime to Ovra, the Fascist secret police, even without proofs, to
gain advantage out of it.
To solve the mystery, Arrigoni has to face young and beautiful actresses,
octogenarian prompters and Mussolini’s supporters...
After the extraordinary success of the first four novels, Commissario Mario
Arrigoni is back, with the places and almost forgotten, still magical atmosphere of the 50s, perfectly described by Dario Crapanzano, one of the most
original voices of the noir genre.

CHIARA GAMBERALE
Allegra Lunare is twenty, the age when everything begins: instead, everything
ends for her, and she has to sum up the courage to start everything over.
Allegra begins to write letters: she writes not to be afraid, to save her childhood, to remember the people and the things that made her world until that
moment.
She writes to the new tenants of the house where she lived with her bizarre
family; Allegra is inspired by the objects she leaves behind and by the few she
brings with her.
Each object tells a story: that of his father, a revolutionary university student,
and that of her mother, a young American model; that of the birth of her
brother Giuliano, a boy affected by the Down’s syndrome. The magical love
story between Adriana and Matilde; the fabulous meeting with Zuellen, a
woman who seeks love desperately, who has the power to turn everything into
something else.
And Allegra will share with others the secret lesson she has learned from the
theater and the circus, a most important secret: that after the performace of
the acrobats, the trapeze, when everyone hold his breath and happiness seems
to vanish every second – , then Clowns always arrive.
Allegra’s style and rhythm are as fast as the breath of youth, when people are
in a hurry to understand: surprising, unexpected, witty, naïve, sharp….
Chiara is really a fearless writer: she is capable to create characters that ask
questions that concern everybody.
Allegra Lunare asks questions about us, questions that make readers look
beyond the surface:
Questions that are risky, questions that are tough; yet without danger, without
risk, there is no life and there would be no literature.

ALDO NOVE
In an era “full of wonder”, the Middle Ages, an era of battles, of secrets, when
the lands were for adventure and travel, and loves and fears were strong, was
born a man, Giovanni di Bernardone, then known as Francesco, the man
from Assisi. He saw the light and beauty of Jesus, his Master, not only in every
person’s face but also in the animals, in the sun, the moon, the earth.
That’s S. Francis, the “poor man” par excellence, the “God’s Fool”.
In this new novel Aldo Nove tells the story of S. Francis lighlty and with a sincere voice; the point of view is that of Francis’s nephew, Picard, a boy initally
frightened by the radical choices made by his uncle, then gradually imbued
with admiration for Francis. Picard is aware that he cannot be like him, he is
not able to follow his journey.
Aldo Nove is a poet, a novelist and a
playwriter. He was born in Viggiù in 1967.
Woobinda, his debut novel, was published
in 1995 by Castelvecchi. He also wrote a
collection of poems A schemi di costellazioni and another novel La vita oscena (both
published by Einaudi in 2010).
Bompiani published Zero e il Robot (2008)
and Giancarlo Bigazzi. Il geniaccio della

In the background, Aldo Nove portrays the strong emotions and upheavals of
an era that was not quite as dark as sometimes people believed.

The good people struggle to save the world. Their crusades are called ‘projects’,
their god is the Law. Their leader is Don Silvano. He is the holy man with the
thread-bare sweater, his eyes convey suffering as he preaches on the road and
in the palace; he is close both to the pariahs and to the politicians, to rock
stars, and to the convicts and the judges.
Aza meets Don Silvano in his temple; she comes from the underworld, from
the slums; she is slender and strong, she flees a life of violence and she is
ambitious.
The Almighty Silvano grants her a new language, a house, a career, even a love
life. He give Aza Life.
Then it does not matter if the temple is made of plasterboard, if the words of
threats are spoken with the same tone as those of peace. Aza will keep hold of
the rope that binds her to Don Silvano until her hands hurt, even when the
world around her collapse.
Luca Rastello wrote a lucid and fierce novel, focusing on things that are right
under our eyes but we do not want to see, because of negligence or out of self

Yet, we are eventually caught: we recognize our need to live with the evil while
we pretend to fight it, we see our need to accept a world that crushes us, while
we live in it under anesthesia.

Il tribunale delle anime
The Lost Girls of Rome

September 2011
DONATO CARRISI
Marcus, a darkness-hunter, and Clemente, his guide, are investigating the disappearance of a young woman in Rome. A series of anomalies makes it a case
worth Marcus’ attention, as he is trained to recognise them and dig out the
hidden sides of evil. But the scar on his forehead is there to remind him about
the gunshot that made him lose his memory a few months earlier.
In the meanwhile, Sandra, a photo-detector whose skill is to work on the
details out of place, is hunted by the thought that her husband, David, lied to
her before dying in a suspicious accident.
While following different paths, Sandra and Marcus meet each other and
uncover a terrible reality hidden within the recesses of Rome: somebody is
putting in contact the families of the victims of unsolved cases with the still
unpunished culpable. And when justice is no longer a choice, there is only a
solution left - the choice falls between forgiveness or revenge.
Il tribunale delle anime relies on historical facts. The Penitenzieria Apostolica,
owned by the Vatican, is the vastest and most updated criminal archive of the
world. Founded in the XII century A.D. to sell plenary indulgences, it became
the place where the confessions of mortal sins are recorded. The sins transcribed by the priests are sent in a sealed letter to the Tribunal of Souls, a commission of prelates (Penitenzieri) who will judge whether to absolve the culpable
or not. While the transcriptions of the confessions were initially burnt after
the judgement, the Penitenzieri decided to keep them in a secret archive – the
only one in the world keeping a record of Evil.
Penitenzieri are criminologists who study the Evil. They follow a case, they are
allowed to access only a small portion of the archive, in order to prevent them
from having the whole picture of the event, as nobody would bear the heaviness of getting to know the Evil. They help the police with the investigation
whenever a case presents some anomalies. They follow a scientific method,
and are not interested in the existence of the Devil but in the manifestation of
Evil in the history of humanity – being men the only masters and responsibles
of their actions.

DONATO CARRISI
A breathtaking novel that reminds of movies such as Seven, The Sixth Sense,
The Silence of the Lambs - going well beyond them and introducing a new
figure in crime fiction: the subliminal killer.
Six buried arms. Six vanished little girls. It is from this appalling discovery
that Captain Roche, Goran Gavila (an internationally well-known
criminologist) and Mila Vasquez (an expert in vanished children cases) start
to investigate. The culpable seems to be a sadistic serial killer who makes the
team find the missing girls’ corpses one by one. Each corpse carries a message
and leads to ‘normal’ men, wolves disguised as lambs. Until Mila’s revelation:
the team is facing a ‘subliminal killer’, somebody who does not physically
commit the crime but induces other people to kill on his behalf - and who is
thus not chargeable with murder nor liable of punishment.
Some real-life disturbing cases reveal the existence of subliminal killers (or
whisperer/prompter, as psychiatrists define them) - whose treatment, both
from a scientific and legal side, is still under debate. In 1975 Roger Blest kills
six women in Akron (Ohio). When he is arrested, he tells the investigators
that the killings had been ‘prompted’ by a certain Benjamin Gorka. In 1984 in
New Zealand an illiterate worker named Rolf Springer murders four women
and subsequently tells the police that he has acted upon the ‘advice’ of a certain Benjamin Gorka. 2006, Japan. A man named Kobashi convinces eighteen
people met on a chat-line and scattered all around the world to commit
suicide on Valentine’s day. Different in age, sex, economic condition and social
position, they were normal men and women, with no apparent problems.
Finally, Charles Manson’s case is probably the most sensational and famous
one. In order to prosecute him, a juridical artifice was used, and he was given
several life sentences instead than being condemned to death.

CHRISTIAN FRASCELLA
During a night shift, Christian is suddenly struck by fear. It is as if a never ending glacial thrill is leaking from his head - which, out of the blue, leaves place
to an overwhelming warmth, so hot that he can barely breath.
From that moment on Christian has to deal with panic attacks while his life
gets in pieces - from his relationship with Lucia to his job and friendships.
The casual encounter with an old man and with a psychiatrist will help him to
navigate across that river of sorrow, notwithstanding the pain arisen by hidden
memories.
After several novels about the emotions of adolescence, Christian Frascella comes back with a novel that shows the author’s maturity to face his own ghosts
and evoke the readers’ ones. What Frascella creates is a brave and moving
seance.
There are things that can be written (and in such a powerful way) only if you
have experienced them.
To read this book is such a powerful experience. It is impossible to put it
down, so strong are its words - innovative, powerful, vibrant. It is as if Christian Frascella threw away his previous style to jump inside his own fears and
find the strength and energy to face it. Or, simply, to learn how to live and
tremble at the same time.

Two women, two worlds apart, two different dreams, but the same supermarket…
Almost everyday Erica and Tea meet each other in a small supermarket. Erica
is 33. She works in a bank, has a devoted husband and a dazed mother, a
Facebook group of old classmates and two growing up children. Tea Fidelibus
is the leading actress of the cult TV-serie “Head or Heart”. She has a complex
past, a lumbering father, an amazing career, a fascinating but manipulating
husband. Erica buys groceries for her whole family, while Tea limits herself to
a couple of vases of fat-free yogurt and sushi. Erica stares at Tea’s trolley with
envy, dreaming the freedom of being a woman without children, the lightness
of such a perfect body, and the passion of a forbidden love. She would never
imagine to be an ideal for her own ideal. Tea doesn’t even know Erica’s name,
but she nicknamed her Mrs Cunningham. In her, Tea sees the peace she is
longing for, and the realisation of a life as a wife and mother. In an exhilarating series of misunderstandings, Erica and Tea spy on each other, grasping at
any detail that means happiness to themselves and that underlines their own
pain. It becomes a way to face their own choices without confusing them with
the destiny.
Which in the end, will hit both of them anyway...

Maria, the communal administrator of an apparently normal building, dies
in a car accident. She leaves a daughter, Mandorla (literally “Almond”), a six
years old girl whose future turns out to be as strange as her name is: a letter
her mother left before dying reveals that her real father lives on one of the five
floors of the building. All the men in the building are therefore suspected,
and one of them is expected to be admitting the truth. However, since none
accepts to undergo the DNA test, the five families decide to grow up the little
girl together. Through Mandorla’s sometimes happy, sometimes sweetly desperate eyes, we turn on the lights (and thus see the shelters) in the apartments of
the building – apartments where the reader will find his place as well.
We will thus investigate on the reasons of the solitude of Tina Polidoro; we
will step into the desolate bedroom of Caterina and Samuele Grò; we will
follow Paolo and Michelangelo to the gay pride; we will be overwhelmed by
the incommunicability in the tormented relationship between Lidia and Lorenzo; we will sit at the Barilla family’s table, so stubbornly traditional. While
Mandorla grows up, falls in love, searches for her father and her true self, we
get through astonishing revelations and uncomfortable truths. While reading,
we will all remember that, before being wives, husbands, mothers and fathers,
we are - above all - persons. And we will all find out that ‘family’ constitutes
an indefinable alchemy: the ones who’ve got one end up destroying it; the ones
who don’t have it dream of it as the only possible means of happiness.
Chiara Gamberale builds up a novel where traditional archetypes mix with
contemporary dramas, where truth and lie interchange, and gives birth to an
original and unforgettable voice that leads us to a surprising ending.

FABRIZIO GATTI
An undercover journalist who wears the gas workers suit to report the inside
world of a drug traffickers gang.
A ‘Ndrangheta killer that, first time with a gun, does not have the courage to
kill.
They watch each other. They study each other. They meet each other.
Two parallel lives, a ruthless journey.
Rocco, twenty years, the killer who can’t kill, ends up in jail. With a single obsession: to avenge the death of Luca, his boss - and almost a brother - killed by
the Clan. The need for revenge, however, turns into a desire of justice, so deep
to convince him to testify against ‘Ndrangheta in the next “Maxi Trial”.
In exchange, the State will offer him protection and the opportunity to rebuild
his life. But one month before the hearing, on a pretense, the protection
program is removed, and Rocco becomes the first repentant abandoned from
the State.
The explanation comes directly from that so-hated reporter, collected from
the confidences of a police officer who, only a few hours after Cosa Nostra’s
bombs hit Milan and Rome, was talking about a underway negotiation between the State and Mafia bosses.
Fabrizio Gatti (Milan, 1966) works for the
Italian weekly “L’Espresso” as
a correspondent. Some of his reports
have been publisehd world-wide.
By the same author:
Vicky che voleva andare a scuola
(Fabbri, 2003);
Bilal (Rizzoli, 2007);

Fabrizio Gatti shows us the Mafia next door. That which hides itself in the
neighborhoods, in the public offices. That which we all touch closely everyday.
That which condemned Italy to become what it is.
That ballast we must set ourselves free of, if we want to return to hope.

Dove comincia la notte
Where the Night Begins
Rizzoli
February 2013
ALESSIO VIOLA
Roberto De Angelis is a good cop, the best in the “Bari Mobile” squad. He is
always on the lookout, especially at night, when the city forgets her beauty and
becomes the land of crime. But a street life is a life of solitude, disillusionment
and daily violence, and even the toughest cop wonders whether it really makes
sense to keep fighting.
There is a woman, a doctor in her thirties, that could give him a second
chance, a new life; but she has a dark side, she is unable to tell love from pain;
Roberto can not, does not want to approve of that.
The opportunity to redeem himself appears when he intercepts Giacinto
Trentadue, a young drug dealer, no more than a juvenile delinquent, at least in
appearance. Roberto shadows him to Poggiofelice, a residence in the southern
part of the city, once a shelter for evicted people.
Roberto does not know it yet, but he has located the fortress of the new Bari’s
underworld, a “wild bunch” that came out of the historic districts and is ready
to unleash a bloody campaign to conquer the territory. For the cop it is only
the beginning of a journey to hell, beyond his own limits and that of the law
too.
Alessio Viola former worker, teacher,
host and rugby player, contributed to
“La Repubblica” and “Il Corriere del
Mezzogiorno”; he wrote, among other,
numerous articles about the hidden
economy of Bari.
Dove comincia la notte is a melancholic noir, at the same time one of the most
raw yet polished in recent years. It is the portrait of a city - unknown in many
ways - able to give you glimpses of infinite sweetness, while stabbing you at
the heart a second later.

Moments of Irrepressible Nuisance
FEDERICA BERNARDO
What a nuisance ...
The “stop” signal. And the blinking one, when you are in a hurry, you are still
far and you know that you will never make it.
The pinch of salt and the “just enough” explanation, passed off as scientific
unit of measurement in recipes.
The safety caps: children figure them out immediately and open them in a
second, adults need a lot of thinking and huge efforts.
The unpaid internships.
The silver paper of Nutella.
The length of the wires of the headsets: why are they asymmetric?
The sponge of the dishes: it’s impossible to stop its foam when you are finished.
The Hundred Years’ War, as it does not last a hundred years.
Who has not experienced a moment of annoyance? One of those small, ordinary, insignificant and often subtle nuisances that spoil the days.
Federica Bernardo decided to collect them in this ironic and unique book.
As nuisance has no age, no genre / sexual orientation (it’s equally distribuited
among men and women) nor political orientation.
It is evergreen (like the bile), it is suitable for every season and it never goes
out of fashion. And… Actually it makes us feel better to find out that other
people have more trouble than we have.

PAOLO CREPET
Being happy may happen much more often than we think, we just have to let
it happen.
Many people complain not just out of habit, or as a self-defense: they excel at
this as they have learned how to complain early, in their childhood.
Fighting this attitude means to develop a new program, to start a small revolution: Paolo Crepet contributes to it through these pages.
Impara a essere felice shows how to educate children to be happy; it should be
the ultimate goal of every adult and of every teacher to educate people to real
happiness, not to be confused with the ephemeral joy. Children will grow up
stronger and less vulnerable or fragile, boys will be really free.
Paolo Crepet is a psychiatrist and

Il segreto dell’amore felice
The Secret of Happy Love
Mondadori
January 2014
RAFFAELE MORELLI
“People in love suffer because they resist it, because they want this cosmic
force to adjust to their daily life.
Every argument, every comparison, explanation or project is far from Love.
It’s a betrayal of Love to wait for Love, to check when it comes and from where
it comes. This means to suffer.”
After changing the usual points of view on diets and physical health, Raffaele
Morelli undermines the clichés about love: it is not true that in order to love
others, people must first love themselves.
It’s not true that a “serious” relationship lasts forever; that it’s too late to Love;
that opportunities are lost forever; that people who flee Love win.
It’s not true that people must forget what’s happened in the past and come
back together; but above all, it is not true that people need to improve their
own love relationship.
It’s not true that people have to look for love with a capital L; to wait for Prince
Charming; to understand what made t hem fall in love.
It’s not true that people have to understand Love.
An unsettling, provocative, enlightening book, Il segreto dell’amore felice will
reveal to those who follow its recommendations, the precious secret of happy
Love.

BIAGIO SIMONETTA
“En” is the symbol of Nitrogen. It is a colorless, tasteless, invisible gas, and it
is the most widespread element in the air. It is everywhere, as globas as crime.
Crime is widespread thanks to the Internet.
In recent years, new technologies have remarkably simplified our daily life.
Each of us processes tasks that in the past requested several hours - queuing at
the counter, forms to fill in - with a simple click.
We are so excited by this, that we often forget that Mafias are involved too.
They asserted themselves in the web in a way that is as dangerous as furtive and invisible. They discovered new weapons and new, never exploited
markets and new ways to handle business transactions. Today, for example,
drug dealers do not work in the dark alleys or places of ill-fame, but in the
deep layers of the World Wide Web; pushers decide their movements and
organize their appointments with drug-addicts through Facebook. Money
laundering is conducted through computers; even though threats of extortion
are virtual, they are no less dangerous. At the same time, it has become clear
that cybercrime – stealing ID or copying credit cards – is more profitable than
drug-dealing: thus a new generation of “picciotti-hacker” is born.
Biagio Simonetta, journalist, lives in
Milan since 2010. Author of numerous
investigations into the organized crime
world, he worked for seven years at the
“Quotidiano della Calabria” and has collaborated with “La Stampa” and “Il Corriere
della Sera”. He currently writes for “Il Sole
24 Ore”. He published Faide. L’impero della
‘Ndrangheta (Cairo Editore, 2011) and I
padroni della crisi (Il Saggiatore, 2013).
After having studied for years the “traditional ‘Ndrangheta”, Biagio Simonetta
has devoted himself to this new universe - as fluid as a river - and has outlined
its contours offering us a lucid analysis of the frightening crime 2.0. Enne reads like a thriller, like a novel, but it describes a reality very close to each of us.

TERZANI’S DIARIES ARE PUBLISHED
Un’idea di destino
An Idea of Destiny
Longanesi
May 2014
TIZIANO TERZANI
“What makes of our life a happy adventure”? Tiziano Terzani asks himself in
this extraordinary posthumous work.
Un’idea di destino is a uncessant and passionate dialogue between History and
Terzani’s personal story: his travels, his political ideas, his doubts, the life in
China, the Vietnam war, his letters to his wife and his children.
These pages, gathered by the author himself until his very last days, reveal the
curious and vital nature of a man who loved questions more than answers and
that never stopped facing the World and his own conscience.
Tiziano Terzani was born in Florence
in 1938. Since 1971 he had
been the Asian correspondent for
the German weekly “Der Spiegel” and a
contributor to the Italian dailies “La Repubblica” and “Il Corriere della Sera”.
He lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, and since 1994 he travelled between
Tuscany and the Himalayas, where he
lived with his wife, the writer Angela Staude. He died in July 2004.
A renowned expert on Asian matters
and a journalist of great international
prestige, he was awarded the Luigi
Barzini Special Correspondent Prize
in May 1997. His books have been
translated in several languages.

Elogio dell’amicizia
In Praise of Friendship
Einaudi
November 2012
PAOLO CREPET
A book about the noblest of social and emotional bonds, that reveals the
power of friendship, comforting and revolutionary at the same time, in these
times of crisis and trivialization of feelings.
Paolo Crepet is a psychiatrist and
a sociologist, and the most authoritative
Italian expert on problems relating to
adolescence. He writes both fiction and
non-fiction books.
With his typical voice, sober but passionate, Paolo Crepet talks about a feeling
“more dogmatic than love”, which doesn’t allow for niceties, in order to give
friendship the dignity it deserves. He wonders male and female friendship, its
relationship with love and sex, with pain and death, with fidelity and cheating.
And also, he writes about friendship between parents and children, and its
meaning in the social network era. He reveals that the most powerful relationships in our life are the ones that do not judge and do not negotiate, but only
ask for complicity and generosity.
Among his works (all published by
Einaudi):
Novels:
Naufragi: tre storie di confine (1999);
La ragione dei sentimenti (2002);
Dannati e leggeri (2004);
Un’anima divisa (2010).
Unforgettable portraits will bring along to us something from the past and
make us understand that when it comes to friendship time is never lost.

FOREWORD BY
LORETTA NAPOLEONI
I padroni della crisi
The Masters of the Crisis
Il Saggiatore
January 2013
BIAGIO SIMONETTA
The economic crisis is fierce. It seems endless. Even those who, in 2011,
denied its existence are now forced to deal with the serious social and human
costs of the economic recession. While televisions routinely talk about the
spread and “blood and tears” financial maneuvers, Biagio Simonetta analyzes
this situation from an uncommon perspective. It is the point of view of the
winners: the Mafias.
The game is always the same: a lot of money means a lot of power, especially
when the money is scarce everywhere. Its results are as immediate as puzzling: in Italy, as in the rest of the world, the more the economy shrinks, the
more the Mafias expand. The immense liquidity obtained from cocaine traffic
has saved some of the largest banks in the world from bankruptcy, and loans
granted by ‘Ndrangheta, Camorra and Cosa Nostra look like opportunities to
those small businesses in the grip of the credit crunch; if the only alternative
is to go out of business, it really does not matter that criminal organizations
require absurd rates of interests and that one day they might become the only
owners of the company.
And when the government does not come to help with the tragedy of unemployment and poverty, Mafia’s liquidity buys everything. Or it finds excellent
money laundering opportunities, exploiting those who desperately sell off
their family jewels to “We Buy Gold” shops or have the illusion to repay their
mortgage by hitting the jackpot with a slot-machine.
I padroni della crisi explores the chamaleontic power of mafias, capable of
profiting from the weaknesses of our society, today as in the old days of Al
Capone.
And it unveils a bitter truth that only few want to hear: the illegal economy
has given relief to most of legal economy. But it is only a temporary relief that
rapidly turns into a noose that, while the recession progresses, gathers around
people’s neck. And it threatens our democracy
