SOME ASPECTS
OF CAMEROON CULTURE.
 In the North West Region, you don’t
greet a chief with your hands.
In the North, girls are engaged very
early for marriage; as early as 14 years
old. Ladies cover their
faces when
moving about
 A man can get married to many wives.
Some chiefs in the North West and
West Regions have about 30 wives.
 In the West Region, 10 years after
burial, the skull of a dead person is dug
and reburied inside a room.
FOOTBALL! OUR CULTURAL SPIRIT
Cameroon is a sports-loving country. Our spirit of sports is seen in Douala where we have many sports facilities.
There are football stadia, basketball, handball, volleyball fields. There are also gym centers. Last year, our school
won the national volleyball championship. If you enter Douala early on Sunday morning, you will see many people
doing sports, no matter the neighborhood. Cameroon is renowned in football. Africa has more places in the world
cup today, thanks to the Cameroon National Football Team, the Indomitable Lions and Milla Rogers, who is retired.
Now, we have another famous football star, Samuel Eto’o Fils, who grew up in Douala. He is the captain of our
national team and will lead Cameroon to the world cup in South Africa in June.
