Joseph Stalin
“Man of Steel”
The young Stalin
 Stalin was born in Gori, Georgia
 He was born on December 21, 1879
 He was his mother's fourth child to be born in less
than four years.
 The first three died and as Joseph was prone to bad
health, his mother feared on several occasions that
he would also die.
About Stalin
Joseph experienced the poverty that
most peasants had to endure in Russia
at the end of the 19th century.
At the age of seven he contacted with
smallpox.It left a scar on his face and he
became known as “pocky”.

Stalin’s family life
 Stalin’s son Yakov finally shot himself because of Stalin’s
harshness toward him.
 Yakov ended up surviving. After this Stalin said, “He can’t even
shoot straight”.
 Yakov served in the Red Army during World War II and was
captured by the Germans.


Accomplishments
As the ruler of Russia, Stalin was the leader
of world communism for almost thirty years.
Stalin was also involved in the Russian
Revolution in 1917
He also led his country alongside America
and England through World War 2.
