ARTVISION PROJECT WP5 “ART IN PORT”
“COEXISTENCE: FOR A NEW ADRIATIC KOINÈ ’”
#04 – Venezia
Magazzino del Sale n°3
The launch event of the Venice stage of "ART IN PORT - Coexistence: for a new
Adriatic Koine" will take place on December 20th at Magazzino del Sale n. 3 in Venice.
It’s the fourth stage of the contemporary art exhibition which is part of the framework of
ArTVision Project, a European initiative co-financed by IPA-Adriatic CBC Programme
2007-2013 which involves artists coming from Albania, Croatia, Montenegro and Italy
(Veneto and Puglia).
The exhibition in Venice comes after the previous stages in the cities of Tirana (Albania),
Cetinje (Montenegro), Rijeka (Croatia) and the tour will close at the end of January with
the final stage in Polignano a Mare (Puglia).
ArTVision-A.LIVE ART CHANNEL Project has the purpose of activating and connecting
the creative energy of young artists who are invited to take centre stage. It is an
experimental project, led by Puglia Region - Area Policies for the Promotion of Territory,
Knowledge and Talent, which involves: Pino Pascali Foundation Museum of
Contemporary Art; Veneto Region - Direction of cultural and performance activities;
Academy of Fine Arts of Venice; Ministry of Culture of Montenegro; Faculty of Dramatic
Arts of Cetinje – Montenegro; Ministry of Culture of Albania; University of Arts of Tirana Albania; Primorje-Gorski Kotar County – Croatia; Kanal RI - Croatia.
The core idea is to establish a strict dialogue among cross-border Nations through a set of
cultural actions, aimed at finding out commonalities and discontinuities among people
sharing the Mare Nostrum of the Adriatic Mediterranean.
There are five variations of the exhibition in different locations and territories with the aim
of stating the concept of a new linguistic Koinè by translating territorial identities into the
dynamics of relationship, open-mindedness and comparison. The artists from different
geographical areas, coordinated by a team of curators, headed by the Pino Pascali
Museum Foundation, in collaboration with the coordinators of the partner countries, have
dealt with such shared topics as stories and narrations, myths and legends, spirituality and
religions, migration and nomadism, with the aim of strengthening the idea of a common
Europeanness too often forgotten.
