Our Group
The Cardiovascular Research Patient
Panel is based within the Academic
Directorate of Cardiology and
Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sheffield
Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
(STH).
The panel is made up of men and
women who have an interest in cardiology
and cardiothoracic surgery. The Panel
includes patients, relatives, carers and
members of the public.
Our Research
The Panel contributes to the work of STH
and University of Sheffield researchers by
providing advice.
Research proposals are presented to the
Panel who advise whether they are
suitable and manageable for patients. The
Panel advises researchers on the content
of patient information sheets and how best
to explain research procedures in lay
language.
Our Meetings
The Panel has agreed to meet
throughout 2014 and the meeting dates
are below:

18th Dec 2014 10.00-14.30
The Panel was formed in 2009 and
has met regularly since then. Membership
has changed over time and new members
are always welcome.
Meetings take place at the Northern
General Hospital, close to Chesterman
Wing, which is the regional centre for
cardiology and cardiothoracic care in
South Yorkshire.

researchers wherever possible.

When research studies are completed, the
Panel aims to advise on writing up
research studies in lay language and
dissemination of results to patients and the
public.
