Tobacco Control Action Plan
• Vision: a smoke-free society for Wales, in
which the harm from tobacco is
eradicated.
• Aim: to drive down adult smoking
prevalence levels in Wales to 20% by
2016 and to 16% by 2020.
• The Tobacco Control Action Plan and the
Tobacco Control Delivery Plan have been
published on the Welsh Government
website at:

Tobacco Control Action Plan
• Action Area One: Promoting Leadership in
Tobacco Control
• Action Area Two: Reducing the uptake of
smoking
• Action Area Three: Reducing smoking
prevalence levels
• Action Area Four: Reducing exposure to
second-hand smoke
Smoking cessation
• Tier 1 target to LHBs to treat 5% of their
smoking population per year, with 40% COvalidated as quit at 4 weeks
• Services offered – Stop Smoking Wales;
Pharmacy Level 3; in-house hospital; GP
• Results published, quarterly in arrears, on
www.mylocalhealthservice.gov.uk
