“Get started the sooner the better,
since some awards are specific for
a certain year. Plus, you can now
start preparing for future awards
with the classes you take and your
extracurricular activities--but it helps
to know what you're preparing for!
…Make the most of any opportunity;
you can't win the award if you don't
apply! It takes some time to
prepare applications, so start early.
Also, take advantage of all the
resources that are available to you,
online and in person. For example,
one of the fellowships workshops
gives a pretty extensive overview of
many of the opportunities--I would
highly suggest it…since it only takes
an hour or so and makes you aware
of what's out there.”
