Student Code of Conduct – Online Course
Student etiquette, behavior, and dress code for Online Sessions:
A digitally signed copy of this document, along with student's declaration at the end of this
document must be submitted by the student to Mayapur Institute before registration.
1. Mayapur institute has a policy of gender separation for its courses.
2. In some courses which are currently gender-mixed due to administrative reasons, Prabhu Ji(s) and
Mata Ji(s) will be allotted into separate online meetings.
3. In general, free mixing of genders and frivolous behavior on and off is not appreciated. Unless
necessary, intermingling with the opposite sex should be strictly avoided. The study of sastra should
remain the only focus throughout.
4. Mundane literature, mundane music, films, etc., are restricted during the classes. No such references
should be brought by the student under any circumstances.
5. All students are expected to dress in appropriate Vaisnava Dress and proper hairstyle as per Vaisnava
standards through-out the session. Revealing attire will not be allowed either for Prabhu Ji(s) and
Mata Ji(s).
6. Mata Ji(s) should avoid low cut / short blouses, revealing tops, sleeveless, half skirts, shorts, figurehugging dresses, three-fourths, jeans, and the like during the sessions.
7. Throughout your course, you are always expected to maintain a high standard of Vaisnava behavior
including but not limited to:
➢ Following the four regulative principles of no meat eating, no intoxication, no illicit sex, and no
gambling.
➢ Chanting a minimum of 16 rounds of Japa each day.
➢ Attending the morning program online, which includes Mangala-Arati, Guru-Puja & Srimad
Bhagavatam class.
➢ Attending all spiritual programs and classes in devotional attire mentioned above.
8. You should be tolerant, respectful and if you have any concerns, these should be expressed to the
institute authorities with respect and in a polite way. If you feel that the matter is sensitive, you can
express your concern in writing.
9. We encourage your active and voluntary participation in different services at MI as and when
required. It is mandatory for scholarship recipients to render some regular service to MI.
10. Any criticism or mocking of fellow students will not be tolerated.

11. All lectures should be attended, assignments submitted on time and all assessments must be
completed. Prior permission is necessary from the facilitator and course coordinator for any absence
for valid reasons.
12. You should always deal respectfully with the facilitators and elderly students.
13. The course should be taken in a co-operative spirit rather than a competitive one. Comparing marks
and discussing other students' grades with a competitive mentality is not appreciated.
14. While it is expected that you will perform your best, this should be done for the pleasure of the Lord
and not with the intention to outperform others. The mood should be to appreciate others'
performance, not envy them.
15. Approaching a facilitator to enquire about ways to improve your performance in general and
particularly in tests / assignments is encouraged. However, this should not be in a challenging spirit.
Rather this should be done in a mood of submissive enquiry.
16. Students should refrain from propagating, in or outside of class sessions; Vaisnava philosophies not
supported by the ISKCON GBC.
17. You should abide by the laws of respective country and states.
18. You will not hold the MI, or any agents of MI, responsible for any physical injury, accidents, disease,
death, damage or theft of your belongings during your period of study at the MI.
19. Students should acknowledge that the above conditions, statements of fees, course offerings, time
schedules, admissions and graduation requirements are subject to change without notice or
obligation.
20. Any other requirements / restrictions announced by temple authorities, all ISKCON laws, regulations,
policies, and procedures will automatically be binding on all students.
21. During the online classes, students need to follow online class etiquettes:
➢ Participants should strongly use the “Raise Hand” feature to speak/ask with the facilitator.
➢ Participants should always remain on mute, except when asked by the facilitator to ask question
or respond.
➢ Unless expressly stated by the facilitator, students should not talk amongst themselves
throughout the session.
➢ Microphone, Speaker and Camera testing must be done by the participants prior commencement
of the session, as it avoids unnecessary delays.
➢ Participants should be present 10 minutes before the scheduled time, so the class may commence
without delay.
➢ Participants should understand and allow other students to respond or ask questions.

➢ In case of many questions, student can contact the facilitator through email via the course
coordinator. Writing all the questions so the facilitator may answer them effectively and
efficiently.
MI's obligations to the student:
➢ To provide specialized programs of student-centered education and training in Vaisnava Sastra
and devotional life skills.
➢ To help the student develop excellence in the study and assimilation of sastric knowledge and
become expert in its application - in their own lives, in helping others and in perpetuating the
mission of Srila Prabhupada.
➢ To offer students an opportunity to deepen their connection to the special blessings of Sri
Caitanya Mahaprabhu while residing at His birthplace and the world headquarters of ISKCON.
Online Classroom Norms and Behavior:
All the students are expected to agree for the following norms at the start of the course:
1. We will be present for the entire course.
2. We will raise hands to contribute.
3. We will wear devotional dress in class.
4. We will value student contributions whether we agree with them or not.
5. We will refrain from side conversations.
6. We will refrain from making & receiving mobile phone calls during class.
7. We will observe confidentiality.
8. We will refrain from borrowing strength from status or position.
9. We respect the right of the individual to withdraw, without stating reasons, from any exercise
which makes them feel unduly uncomfortable.
10. We will each accept full responsibility for success in achieving our desired outcomes.
11. We will confront issues or behavior, not people.
12. We will each honor any agreement reached.
13. Listener category students should conform to norms applicable to them (available in MI office)

Course Fee:
Please note that we will be unable to refund the service charges for the course (Course Fee), once
received, under any circumstances whatsoever.
Important note:
If a student’s dress / behavior is found unacceptable, even if such observation may not be listed above,
the student will be requested by the management to comply to an acceptable norm. The students are
expected to comply with such requests immediately without giving any argument or justification.
If a student refuses to comply with such a request, they will be given one warning in writing. If still the
student refuses to comply then the institute has the full authority to stop the student from attending
further classes in the institute and revoke their stay in Mayapur. In such an eventuality, the student will
forfeit the fees paid for the course.
