Blocks the AV node to slow conduction and interrupt reentry supraventricular
tachycardia

Indications:
Supraventricular tachycardia;
Regular, monomorphic wide complex tachycardia of unknown origin
Contraindications:
Heart block
Drug-induced tachycardia (e.g. from cocaine)
Adverse reactions:
Feeling of impending doom
Shortness of breath
Metal taste in mouth
Headache
Facial flushing
Chest pressure
Nausea
How Supplied:
6 mg/2 mL vial; 12 mg/4 mL vial
Dosage and Admin:
Adult:

Special Considerations:
6 mg rapid IVP/IO followed by 20 cc saline flush
12 mg rapid IVP/IO, PRN, followed by 20 cc saline flush
0.1mg/kg rapid IVP/IO followed by 20 cc saline flush
Max dose: 6 mg
0.2 mg/kg rapid IVP/IO, PRN followed by 20 cc saline flush
Max dose: 12 mg
Very short half-life. Must enter the circulation and reach heart within 10-20
seconds.
Large bore IV/IO at proximal site at or above AC.
Hit print on monitor right before injection to capture rhythm change.
