Project: A study on improving the concrete performance by optimizing the particle size
distribution of Waste Crushed Stone(WCS) aggregates
[Progress]
1. I have succeeded in obtaining Waste Crushed Stone (WCS).
2. The WCS were wet and needed to be dried in a dryer.
3. I have started sieve analysis and separating all the WCSs by particle size in order to make concrete
with a set grain size later.
4. I’m using the following tools to analyze the particle size.

[Results]
Graph shows the results of the sieve analysis of WCS.

The raw WCS was initially judged to be non-conforming to ASTM standards.
All particles were evenly distributed.
[Problems]
1. The lab on the first floor does not have all the types of sieves required by ASTM
standards. The lab had sieves that are commonly used in KS.
So I’m using sieves similar to those required by ASTM standards. I don't know how this will
affect my experiments in the future. I also have a new particle size distribution set based on
ASTM, which will affect the experiment.
2. I'm still trying to figure out how to set the granularity distribution.
Set1
This setting looks better to observe the electrical properties change of the fine
particles. It would be interesting to observe how much clay should be included
without negatively affecting the strength.
Set2
This is the setup I showed in the study plan.
This experiment spans 18 cases.
I realized that too many cases would make the experiment very complicated.
I think a study with this setup would be valuable, but it is not suitable for
observing the electrical properties change of the fine particles.
[Schedule]
I’m planning to start making concrete with natural aggregate tomorrow. The natural aggregate
will be mixed based on the existing ASTM fine aggregate particle size distribution.
