A simile (pagtutulad)is a figure of speech that
directly compares two things. Similes differ
from metaphors by highlighting the similarities
between two things using comparison words
such as "like", "as", "so", or "than", while
metaphors create an implicit comparison.
Examples:
The expression on her face was as cold as ice.
While fighting the war, the soldier was as brave
as a lion.
You were as brave as a lion.
They fought like cats and dogs.
He is as funny as a barrel of monkeys.
She ran like lightning.
A metaphor is a figure of speech that
describes an object or action in a way that
isn't literally true, but helps explain an idea or
make a comparison.
Metaphor - Metaphors use the keywords "is"
or "are" if they are comparing two nouns in
the present tense or "was" or "were" when
comparing them in the past tense.
Examples:
Life is a highway.
Her eyes were diamonds.
He is a shining star.
The snow is a white blanket.
She is an early bird.
Time is a thief.
Eyes are the windows to the soul.
This is the icing on the cake.
Hope is on the horizon.
Life contains nothing but clear skies up ahead.
He has a heart of gold.
Her lovely voice was music to his ears.

Hyperbole is a purposeful exaggeration not
meant to be taken literally. It is used to
emphasize or draw attention to a certain
element in a story.
Ang hyperbole o hiperbole ay eksaherasyon o
pagpapalampas sa totoo. Ito ay eksaheradong
paraan ng paglalarawan. Ginagamit ang
hyberbole sa pagpapahayag na kaugnay ng
matitinding damdamin.
Examples:
I'm so hungry, I could eat a horse.
My feet are killing me.
That plane ride took forever.
This is the best book ever written.
I love you to the moon and back.
The pen is mightier than the sword.
I've told you this 20,000 times.
Cry me a river.
He is older than the hills.
I will die if she asks me to dance.
Personification is the representation of a
thing or abstraction as a person. In the
arts, many things are commonly
personified. Nagyayari ang
personipikasyon (pagbibigay-katauhan o
pagsasatao) kapag ang isang bagay o
abstraksiyon ay kinakatawan bilang isang
tao, sa panitikan o sining, bilang isang uri
ng antropomospismikong metapora.

Lightning danced across the sky.

turned in its ignition.
