Break Up Letter
Using a letter layout, write a letter from one member of a romantic couple to another,
explaining why they feel they need to end the relationship.
Step 1: Create your couple
How did they meet? How long have they been together?
Person 1:
● 3 personality traits
● Hobbies
● Physical appearance
Person 2:
● 3 personality traits
● Hobbies
● Physical appearance
Step 2: Choose a person and their reasoning
Who is breaking up with who? What was the final straw? What was the major problem in the
relationship that made them decide to end things? Make sure to include as much detail as
you can.
Step 3: Write your letter
Make sure you;
● Use a letter layout (address, greeting, sign off)
● Include details about each member of the relationship
● Explain why the relationship is ending
● Use dramatic and strong language - lots of adjectives and descriptive words
