IBO Background Information
1. It was established in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland.
2. It is governed by a 16‐member council and is a non-profit organization funded by fees from
IB World Schools.
3. The IBO offers three programs of international education for students aged 3 to19 years old:
- The Diploma Program at the high school level (students 7 to 19 years old).
- The Middle Years Program (MYP) (students 11 to 16 years old).
- The Primary Years Program (PYP) (for students 3 to 12 years old).
What is the Primary Years Programme?
The PYP is a transformative learning and teaching experience and represents a commitment to
student learning in an authentic and transdisciplinary context. (ibo.org)
What is the IB Learner Profile?
They are 10 qualities or attributes that enhance the learning of every child embedded within daily
life both within and outside of school. The 10 Learner Profile Attributes outline ‘who we want to
be’ and they are: Inquirers; thinkers; open-minded; caring; risk taker; well-balanced;
knowledgeable; principled; reflective; communicators
Does the PYP have its own curriculum?
The PYP defines curriculum using the following:

What do we want to learn?
What is a PYP school?
It is a school that regardless of location, size or constitution, strives towards developing an
internationally-minded person.
What is an internationally-minded person?
It is a person who demonstrates the attributes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner
Profile.

What are the Approaches to learning?
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) ensures that learning is engaging, relevant, challenging and
significant. A trans disciplinary and conceptual inquiry approach encapsulates these aspects of
learning, underpinned by authentic integrated assessment.
The Approaches to Learning have been categorised into five interrelated areas including Thinking
skills, Research skills, Communication skills, Self-management skills and Social skills.

L’école Mondiale offers an opportunity to
memorise the word of Allah along with
tajweed rules and azkaar, under the
guidance of experienced teachers in a quality
environment.
