Inspection

Material: The following shall be checked for compliance against following standards:
o Oil rings and seals shall be similar material (as per API 541 5th edition 4.4.5)
o Enclosure (API 541 5th edition, 4.4.1)
o Heat exchanger tubes and sheets (API 541 5th edition, 4.4.10.8)
o Rotor (API 541 5th edition, 4.4.5.2)
o Fans (API 541 5th edition,4.4.10.6)
o Stator Laminations (API 541
o 5th edition, 4.4.10.7)
o Air deflectors (API 541 5th edition, 4.4.1)



Record and verify the end play as per (API 541 5th, 4.4.9)
Visually inspect the bearing, oil rings, and seal assembly before and after testing
Visually inspect ion and record internal air gaps (API 541 5th 6.2.1.1 e)

Verify external fans are balanced according to API requirement and any balancing
weight is as per API 541, 5th edition + 17-SAMSS-502 4.4.6.3
Please note the entire test duration from startup to shutdown shall be 4 hours as
required by API (541, 5th 6.3.5)
Implement the bearing housing natural frequency test as stipulated by API 541 5th
edition under section 6.3.5.4
Conduct FRF (Frequency Response Function) test using instrumented hammer
API 541 Paragraph 6.3.3.12.1 unfiltered shaft vibration limit:
o Units: p-p (peak-to-peak)
API 541 Paragraph 6.3.3.12.5 Bearing housing radial and axial vibration velocity:
o Units: 0-p (zero-to-peak)
Perform the dynamic analysis tests that are required, and provide RAW DATA to
be reviewed by the dynamic group

Mechanical

Inspect shaft, oil seals, bearing and oil rings after testing for rubbing, rusting or any
defect signs
Electrical

Routine/complete test (API 541 5th, 6.3.2)
 provide the testing method
 specify the testing equipment used
 provide the temperature rise for the rotor and stator
 provide thermal calculations for the stator and rotor

Install thermal stickier on the rotor before run test the motor (4 hours run test)
Shipping:
Shipping and preservation shall meet (API 541 5th, 6.4)

This document is just additional to the normal procedure/practice done by AOC inspector.
