WHY DO THE FUTURE NEEDS US?

We group 1 believe that the future still needs us, because of the following:
1. Climate Change: The future needs us to address the urgent issue of climate change. According to
NASA, scientific evidence clearly indicates that climate-warming trends over the past century are largely
due to human activities. Understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change is crucial for the
well-being and survival of future generations. (Source: https://climate.nasa.gov/evidence/)
2. Biodiversity Loss: The future needs us to halt and reverse the ongoing loss of biodiversity. Studies
show that human activities, such as deforestation, pollution, and habitat destruction, have caused
significant declines in global biodiversity. This loss threatens ecosystem stability, food security, and
essential ecosystem services that support life on Earth. (Source: https://ec.europa.eu/research-andinnovation/en/horizon-magazine/biodiversity-loss)
3. Emerging Diseases: The future needs us to understand and combat emerging diseases. Scientific
evidence supports the theory that zoonotic diseases, such as COVID-19, originate from the transmission
of pathogens between animals and humans. By investing in research and preventative measures, we can
better prepare for and respond to future health crises. (Source:

4. Technological Advancements: The future needs us to harness technological advancements for the
benefit of society. Scientific discoveries and innovations in fields like artificial intelligence, renewable
energy, and biotechnology hold immense potential to solve pressing challenges, improve quality of life,
and drive sustainable development. (Source:

5. Space Exploration: The future needs us to explore and understand the cosmos. Scientific exploration
of space allows us to expand our knowledge of the universe, uncovering valuable insights about our own
planet and potentially discovering habitable environments beyond Earth. These discoveries may shape
our understanding of human existence and future possibilities. (Source: https://www.nasa.gov)
