LIFE CYCLE OF PLASMODIUM.
2 . GAMOGONY ……
These are the sexual form and are called gametocytes .
Gametocytes are of two types microgametocytes and
macrogametocytes .
Each microgametocyte produce a male gametes by a
sudden and explosive process called flagellation .
On the other hand female gamete undergoes a little
change except that the nucleus migrate towards the
periphery and at that point a cytoplasmic papilla
project. This is called the cone of reception.
The zygote when formed it rounded and motionless.
It soon become elongated and worm like start moving
towards the lining of the stomach.It is called ookinete
or vermicule .It comes out to the stomach and form a
cyst around it. At this stage the parasite is called
theoocyst and sporont..
3 .SPOROGONY ……..
The oocyst now undergoes a sexual reproduction called
SPOROGONY. It increases its size and undergoes mitosis
division and forms near about 10,000 sporozoites in the
oocyst . These are arranged round the vacuole. Soon
depressed off from the residual cytoplasm of the oocyst.
It rupturre and sporozoites are free for infection.
Is single infected mosquito herbours its salivary glands
as many as 200000 sporozoites. One bite of such a
mosquito may inject up to 1000 sprozoites in men.
