Instructions: Answer the following questions.
1. How is the environment affected by the economy?
The economy has an opposite relationship with the environment. Whenever the economy of a country is
growing its environment is being slowly destroyed. In a growing or rich economy there are a lot of
factories, population, and human activities that lead to the destruction of the environment. In this type
of economy there is increased production of waste, smoke , and greenhouse gasses. Moreover, there is
also increased use of non-renewable resources, higher levels of pollution, and destruction of habitats to
make room for extra space.
2. What are the roles of civil society organizations?
Civil society organizations unite people to advance shared goals and interests. Civil society organizations
(CSOs) are critical to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), democratization, human
rights defense, and environmental conservation. They keep governments and corporations accountable
and contribute to ensuring that no one is left behind as as a consequence of development
3. What can you do about negative practices in your community such as solid waste management
and water pollution?
As a student I can help address the negative practices present in the community by sharing my
knowledge. Empowering people with knowledge is one effective way to promote the well-being of the
environment. By raising awareness on the importance of addressing such problems, its effects on the
community, and actions and practices to be taken, the people of the community will be encouraged to
take action.
4. What is the importance of declaring protected areas in the country?
A protected area is a designated area of land or water that has been set aside for its unique physical and
biological variety and is protected from damaging human exploitation. It is important to declare
protected areas in the country because it safeguards and fosters biodiversity in ecosystems, protects
habitats, provides food and water security, combat climate change, and etc.
