A poem about cybercrime by Bob Carolgees

In cyberspace's vast and shadowed domain, A realm where secrets intertwine,
unchain, The internet, a double-edged sword, we find, Has birthed a new form of
crime, unkind.
From humble origins, it did emerge, A world of knowledge, where ideas converge, But
hidden beneath its digital shroud, Came motives dark, and actions disallowed.
Innocence lost, as the web did grow, Online crime's evolution began to show,
Motivations varied, complex, and stark, In the hearts of those who ventured into the
dark.
Some seek fortune, a digital heist, Bank accounts drained, in the dead of night, With
keystrokes, they steal from afar, In pursuit of wealth, they roam the cyber bazaar.
Others yearn for power, control, and might, To breach systems, disrupt with all their
might, Intruders in networks, they secretly roam, Seeking dominion, in the binary
zone.
For some, it's a game, a thrill to embrace, Hackers with prowess, a cunning chase,
They breach for the challenge, the risk they adore, In the depths of the web, they seek
to explore.
Then there are those whose motives align, With a cause they hold, a stance so fine,
Hacktivists, they're known, for justice they fight, In the name of their beliefs, they
wield their digital might.
But amidst the darkness, let us not forget, That many seek refuge from life's cold
debt, In desperation, they turn to the screen, Seeking escape from a world, so
unseen.
The evolution of online crime, a complex tale, Where motivations diverge, and
reasons prevail, In this digital age, we must be aware, Of the shadows that lurk, the
dangers that glare.
As we navigate this boundless cyber sea, Let us safeguard our digital legacy,
Awareness, protection, and knowledge combined, Can help us stay safe in this
evolving online grind.
