Purpose: To revise different types of sentences.
What is a sentence? A sentence is a phrase that has…
(1) A subject( you, I, them, us); who?
(2) A verb( eat, walk, dance); what?

Independent vs dependent clause:
A sentence is an independent clause; it is something that can stand alone( a
complete idea). A dependent clause is an incomplete sentence. Example:
● To the bus
● In the city
● Around the town

The dependent clauses we looked at before were all prepositions( words that describe a
direction, time, place, or relationship between two nouns).

Prepositions: above, across, against, along, among, around, at, before, behind,
below, beneath, beside, between, by, down, from, in, into, near, of, off, on, to,
toward, under, upon, with and within.

A more complex type of sentence is one that combines an independent and
dependent clause( while using a preposition). This is the most common form!
In the school, I found many friends.
Around 5:00pm, I leave my workplace.
To combine an independent and dependent clause, a comma must be used.

July 2nd- Sentence types(quick revision)
Another type of sentence combines two independent clauses. We will learn the most basic way to combine
them( there are many ways this can be achieved).
Between the two independent clauses add A COMMA AND FANBOY. Another use of this is to combine an
independent clause and a dependent clause. Let’s identify the clauses used.
F=for… I told her to leave, for I was very tired
A=and… I want to go to the beach, and I want you to come with me.
N=nor… I don’t hate tennis, nor do I hate the players.
B=but… try it yourself
O=or…. They play, or they sleep.
Y=yet… I love her, yet she doesn’t love me.

I am very happy for my school to start, but I am scared of the work.
I love drawing, but I cannot draw without seeing the paper.
We are all going to the beach, and I want you to come with us.
They went to the school picnic, and they came back with new friends.

Quick revision: sentences
Independent clause/sentence: clause that has a subject and a verb
Subject: who is the sentence about? Some examples; you, it, I, us, them, dog
Verb: DOING WORD. The verb can be found right next to the SUBJECT>
Give me an example of an independent clause JOINED with a dependent clause.
To combine an independent clause with a dependent clause( something that starts with a preposition), use a comma.
Example:Behind the washing machine, I found the eraser.
To combine two independent clauses..
Sheka is working at the mall, and she is a brave person.
I am going to go the resort,and my sisters are going with me.
Make a few sentences like we learnt

Simple sentence
A sentence is a phrase that has subject and a verb.
Subject: who is the sentence about? Man, woman, pencil.
Verb: action. Dancing, eating, running.
