Show pictures of harmful and beneficial effects of the sun’s heat and light.
Ask the learners to describe each picture.
What can you see in the picture? Describe what you
The teacher will show a picture to the class and ask the students:
Now, look at these two pictures.
What have you observed in these pictures?
Answer: “There is a baby and a mother staying under the sun”
What time of the day do you think it is?

the proper development of bones and teeth of a child. Health Integration
Show them another picture.
What can you see in the picture? Describe what you see in the picture.
 Ans. Sunburn, too much exposure to the sun and the man didn’t protect
himself from the
heat of the sun.
 Plants withering, too much heat from the sun.
The Teacher give and activity.
Let the children group the picture if it is beneficial or harmful effect to
human and living organism.
4.3. Analysis
(10 minutes)
B. Discussion
The teacher will paste pictures about human activities, animals and
plants activities under the sun’s heat and light.
Discuss to the students the following beneficial effect of sun to the living
things.
1. Plants can produce their own food by utilizing the heat of the
sun
Plants need sun’s heat and light in order to grow and produce food.
1. Animals can survive with the aids of the sun
2. Recreational Activities such as outings and picnics can be
enjoyed during summer when the sun’s heat is high in the sky.
3. Both farmers and fisherman benefit from the sun’s heat and
light through drying of crops and fishes. EPP Integration
4. Humans can do lots of activities such as drying of clothes,
harvesting, drying of crops, fishing, and drying of fish/meat.
Harmful effects of the suns heat and light.
Causes Sunburns
Makes Our Skin Wrink
Causes Eye Damage
4.4
Abstraction
(5 minutes)

In what way is the sun beneficial to plants, animals and humans?
Plants can make their own food through the presence of sunlight in the
photosynthetic process. Likewise animals and humans need the sun’s heat and
light energy in order to survive. With the presence of sunlight, humans can do a
lot of activities such as laundry, harvesting, drying of crops, fishing and drying
of fishes and recreational activities like outing/ picnics.
Both farmers and fishermen use the sun’s heat in drying crops and fishes.
 In what way is the sun’s heat and light harmful to living things?
Excessive exposure to sunlight can burn or harm the skin. This is called
sunburn. Too much heat of the sun can cause the withering of the plants and
eventually they die. Animals are badly affected when there is no food for them
and exposure to intense heat can cause them to become ill and eventually die.
We should not look directly at the sun because it can damage our eyes.
The soil will become very dry and can crack causing the plants to die.
Farming also is not possible
4.5.
Application
(10 minutes)
The teacher will provide the learners with a sun having a smiley face and a sun
having a sad face to each of the students. The teacher will present a situation
and they are instructed to raise the smiley sun face if the situation is GOOD
and sad if not.
The teacher will present a picture of the following:
1. Playing under the sun at noontime.
2. Wearing a wide brimmed hat on sunny days.
3. Looking at the sun directly.
4. Using an umbrella during sunny days.

Lying on beaches all day.
6. Wear sunglasses in beaches while playing under the sun.
7. Applying sun block lotion when going out to the beach.
8. Staying under the sun the whole day.
