The Role of Islamic Senior High Schools in National Leadership
Honorable judges, respected audience, and everyone here today,
Assalammualaikum, Wr. Wb.
First and foremost, I’d like to thank the Almighty God; it is because of him, we are able to attend
this contest.
Furthermore, may shalawat and salam always be delivered to our prophet Muhammad SAW, who
had brought us from the darkness to this bright modern era that we live in today.
And last but not least, I’d like to thank the judges for giving me this precious opportunity to
compete in this contest.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Good morning! I am Lutviana Nurjannah. And I’m standing here before you to shed light on an
important topic: "The Role of Islamic Senior High Schools in National Leadership."
Honorable members of the audience,
We know that corruption in our country is a classic problem. The data from the Global
Corruption Barometer Asia notes that this year, Indonesia placed third among the most corrupt
nations in Asia. Give big applause! No, no, no, you should not! It is terrible news, right?
Then, why does corruption still happen in our country? I believe that this happened due to
the lack of a trustworthy leader. Being a leader is not easy work.
Dear ladies and gentlemen,
This country needs a leader who has a strong leadership spirit and also has good
characteristics of a leader. Do you know what those characteristics are? In Islam, a good leader
should have the characteristics that our prophet, Muhammad SAW, exemplified. Those are:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Fathanah means intelligent,
Siddiq means honest,
Amanah means trustworthy, and
Tabligh means to convey or deliver.
Honorable audiences,
As the young generation of this country, I have a role in changing this nation for the
better. Moreover, I come from an Islamic Senior High School. So, why do I choose to study at
this school, or we can call it "Madrasah?"
Because I believe that Madrasah is different from any other. And I strongly believe that
Madrasah has an important role in national leadership because Madrasah is a social institution
based on aspects of morality.
Just like any other school outside, Madrasah also values knowledge and science. We learn
a lot of things here. However, Madrasah has distinguishable characteristics that not all schools
outside there have. Madrasah serves as an institution of learning that fosters both academic
excellence and the nurturing of ethical and moral values by combining regular and religious
sciences. And on this aspect, we win. Every school may shape a fathanah leader, but only
Madrasah can shape a higher level of fathanah leader for the future generation.
Ladies and gentlemen,
The purpose of Madrasah education is not only to enrich the minds of students with
knowledge but also to elevate their morals, respect spiritual and human values, and teach
honesty.
Honesty or siddiq. Honesty is one of the most essential qualities of a leader. Without
honesty, a leader could go astray and mess up their leadership. In Madrasah, honesty is also
something that we respect the most. Through the teaching of Aqidah and Al-Qur'an Hadist,
Madrasah prepares future leaders who are well taught for their honesty. An honest leader can
also be a leader who is amanah or trustworthy. It shows that, again, Madrasah can shape another
level of leaders compared to other schools.
Respected participants,
Last but not least, Madrasah is a place where the young generation is prepared to be able
to convey or deliver, as we know that there are a lot of Madrasah alumni that become Da'i or
Ustadz. I believe that Madrasah can also shape future leaders who convey and deliver the truth
into their leadership through the touch of Al-Qur`an and Al-Hadits verses.
With an educational system like this, people are starting to look back at Islamic
educational institutions such as Madrasah to send their children to school. In order to fortify their
sons and daughters from the influence of the rapid digital age. And Madrasah answered this
challenge.
Finally, ladies and gentlemen,
That’s all for my speech. I hope we’ve learned something new from it and enjoyed it. Forgive me
for any mistake, and thank you for your attention.
Wassalammualaikum, Wr. Wb.
