Why are the young trees described as ‘sprinting’?
The young trees are described as ‘sprinting’ in the poem because on the way to the airport she looks
outside, the trees seem to be passing by quickly.The poet shows a contrast between her old mother
and the young sprinting trees as she says “trees sprinting,the merry children spilling out of their
homes,but after the airports security check,standing a few yards away, i looked at her, wan, pale”
The sprinting of trees show the passing of time that brought old age to her
