What is the origin of Rohingya
It has basically started in Rakhine (Arakan) which
is a state in Myanmar. It became in the year 2012
when a group of Rohingya men were accused of
rape and murder of a Buddhist women. The
Buddhist nationalist protested by burning the
homes of Rohingyas.
How did the crisis became so highlighted
• During August 2017 there was an armed conflict in the
Rakhine state that forced the Rohingya to move to the
neighboring country Bangladesh.
• This forced more than 700,000 people to get out of
Myanmar, half of which were children and women.
Why are Rohingya fleeing
• The Burmese army forced the Rohingyas to leave
Myanmar. Due to lack of proper human rights
