Lottery Luck
During Chinese New Year, I am always excited to visit my relatives
and I can get red envelopes! But I have to turn the red envelops to my
parents every year. This year, my parents think that I am old enough to
learn how to manage money. My mom gave me one thousand dollars
and told me to spend wisely.
When we went out during Chinese New Year, I noticed that there
were a lot of people lining up in the lottery stores. I asked my parents
why there were so many people and my dad explained that people
wanted to see how lucky they were by buying lottery. At this moment, I
wanted to test my luck we well. So did my sister. Dad and mom brought
up a suggestion, which was that four of us collected a certain of money
to buy a two-thousand-dollar-value lottery. I was a little hesitated
because I was afraid of losing money. However, on the other hand, I
wanted to win money, too. Dad taught me that there was a lesson I
needed to learn. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. When my
sister and I got the lottery and started to scratch the card, both of us
were nervous. All of us did not want to lose money, but we needed to be
prepared for it.
Mom and I took the revealed lottery card to the counter and asked
the owner to scan the card. I was too nervous to look at the monitor.
Once when I heard the beep sound, I was super excited. When the
lottery store owner told us that we won five thousand dollars, I even
couldn’t believe what I heard. My family were so happy for the result
and all of us think that we would have a great lucky year in 2023.
