Media

and services.
Language - media uses persuasive
languages to convince the public. These
persuasive languages focus only to the
positive effect of the product or services.
Propaganda Technique
It is act or approach designed to
persuade its intended audience to think
and behave in a certain manner.
Propaganda Techniques
• Any persuasive technique whether in print or electronic
media with a purpose to influence other’s opinions,
emotions, and attitudes.
• It tells only the side the author wants the audience to
know.
• It appeals to emotions rather than the intellect.
• It benefits the person or organization using it
TYPES OF
PROPAGANDA
TECHNIQUES
Name-calling
Propagandists use this technique to create fear and arouse
prejudice by using negative words (bad names) to create an
unfavorable opinion or hatred against a group, beliefs, ideas or
institutions they would have us denounce.
Glittering
Generalities
Propagandists employ vague, sweeping statements (often slogans
or simple catchphrases) using language associated with values and
beliefs deeply held by the audience without providing supporting
information or reason.
Testimonial
When a celebrity, a famous
person,
or
an
expert
endorses a certain view, they
testify to the idea or the
product.
Plain Folks
This technique works in a way to
establish that the speaker is
regular and ordinary and has the
same views and opinions as the
people he is appealing to.
Bandwagon
It influences people by telling
them how everyone is using the
same product or is true to the
same ideology.
Bribery
It is a technique that
employs promos, freebies,
or comfort in order to sell a
product or service.

Assignment
The class will be grouped into six. Each group will be assigned a
propaganda technique. With your assigned propaganda technique, create a
two to three-minute long advertisement promoting the products in your
community or your family business. Post your ad in Facebook or YouTube
then send the link to your teacher for assessment.
