1. Sketch your bag/mask in the space provided or sketch it on other paper and insert an image of your
sketch. Be sure to annotate its most important features.
It has a handle to carry it. It is small and light weight. It looks fashionable.
2. Take notes about your interview.
Evelyn:
• Wants a black bag, leather.
• Doesn’t like that it’s not waterproof
• Kind of small
• Her strap can hurt her shoulder
• Her bag has one compartment but would like smaller slots.
Binh:
• Is a cross bag

•
Cannot store laptop so needs a separate bag
Considers making another design, probably is waterproof, better for sport and is black bag,
more pockets.
Frederick:
• Leather based
• Vintage-look
• Prefers backpack, square design.
3.
a. What do they want to achieve with their bag/mask?
Evelyn: To be waterproof and better strap, two compartments and more pockets.
Binh: Store more items, and more intense use like sports, maybe a different color, adjustable
straps, more pockets, more zippers or possible zipper use.
Frederick: square shape for laptop, leather, durability.
b. What feelings or motivations do they have? Is there something you can infer about their design or
use preferences based on what they told you that they maybe haven’t realized themselves?
Evelyn: Probably something minimal for everyday use, likely to hold quality over time.
Binh: For active uses/multiuse, doesn’t focus on looks.
Frederick: something stylish but useable.
4. At least 5 sketches.
[insert images – make sure they are substantively different – don’t worry about whether or not YOU
could produce what you are imagining]

Frederick prefers a specific style that is more retro or vintage. Bags look like cater to his preference.
5. Notes on user feedback.
[insert at least one paragraph or detailed bullet points – be sure to include feedback on all 5 ideas]
All the bags are squarish in some way. Rectangular bag is good, considered “better” or more to his
taste. Seems useable?

6. New solution sketch.
[insert image with annotations]
Frederick wanted it more squarish. It has straps. It’s a backpack. Ideally the material would be leather,
probably grained calfskin.
7. Summary of the user’s reaction.
Frederick seems positive, so no complaints. Says he would actually buy it.
