With the previous discussion on the history and background of civil engineering, what

CABAGAN BYPASS ROAD
The 1.7-kilometer Cabagan mega-bypass road is a physical manifestation of the
transportation engineering marvel in Cagayan Valley. Located in Cabagan, Isabela, it
covers four lanes stretching from Barangay Ngarag to Ugad, Cabagan. It just recently
opened to motorists last year and is expected to reduce traffic congestion. It also lessens 20
minutes of travel time from surrounding municipalities to the City of Ilagan. Unlike major
roads, the Cabagan bypass road has bicycle lanes and lay-by areas to ensure safety among
drivers and cyclists. It just not hosts infrastructure development in nearby communities but
also has a long-lasting impact on industrial development by generating jobs for
Cabagueños. As Isabela is an agricultural province and a major producer of corn,
transporting products would be easier through the Cabagan bypass road. Truly, the creation
of infrastructure just like this will provide ease and progress not just in a community but
throughout the country.

2. Write a paragraph about a great engineer. Please turn in as printed page at the beginning
of the next class.
a. Who?
b. Where he/she educated?
c. Where he/she worked?
d. What great things (discoveries, inventions, projects, etc.) he/she did?
Being a great civil engineer cannot be measured by the numerous projects you've done
or handled but by having good qualities, being flexible in the industry, and not losing
the drive of constant learning. Engr. Melmar Bulan, 25, embodies these characteristics
that I look forward on a civil engineer and who inspired me to take this course. Engr.
Bulan took his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Saint LouisTuguegarao way back 2019 and took and passed the board exam in the same year. He
is now working at Loxford Wandset Incorporated, a company specialized in glass and
aluminum works for high-rise buildings' facades, as an internal coordinator in its
business development department. He is the one who communicates with the clients on
the design and details as a representative of their team. His work showcases the diverse
work of a civil engineer and how important it is to develop one's organizational and
communication skills. Also, as an engineer, constant learning is essential in honing
one's skills and capabilities. For this reason, Engr. Bulan currently takes his master's
degree major in construction engineering and management at the Pamantasan ng
Lungsod ng Maynila. Indeed, a great engineer must have first great qualities and start
at the bottom to climb the ladder of greatness.
