Embedded TM- Use of TM Selection Profile for delivery creation from Freight orders:
This document explains the setup of selection profile and Delivery profile and transactional process
for delivery creation from Freight Orders in Embedded Transportation Management (TM) system of
SAP S/4 HANA 2020.
The Business Requirement is to create deliveries automatically via batch job at regular intervals
based on some conditions. The condition is to create deliveries per freight unit at different times for
different shipping conditions. The shipping conditions determine at what interval deliveries should
be created. For some Orders with Shipping condition 01 should create deliveries as soon as the
Freight Order is created in the system. For other shipping conditions like 05, the delivery creation
would get delayed. So, the delivery creation batch job had to be scheduled at different times
depending upon the shipping conditions.
In standard TM we can use the below programme to generate Deliveries from freight orders.
As per business requirements we have to create selection profile for freight units and assign them in
a variant to run them in a job. Next, we would see how to configure the selection profile and delivery
profile based on business requirements.
This document is divided into two parts: Configuration Settings and Transactional Data Processing:
1. Configuration Settings:

Add a name and description to Selection profile. Also assign Time related Selection profile,
Geographical Selection profile and Additional Selection profile to it if required.
The Time-Related Selection Profile gives us flexibility to choose from which deliveries should be
considered during creation. “Ignore Pick-up” denotes we are not considering the loading dates in our
Time-Related selection Profile. Factory calendar considers the Off days also during planning.
“Delivery in Days=5” field indicates deliveries should be created with only having delivery dates 5
days from today (if no offset days mentioned). Offset Direction in Future means the planning selects
date/time from the future. If Today’s date is 23rd April 2024 and future Offset in days is 3,
considering US factory calendar has Saturdays and Sundays as holidays then, planning horizon would
start 3 days from 24th and ends after 5 days, as 5 days is marked as “Delivery in days”.
Which is from 27th April till 3rd May.

The Simulate Demand Horizon Button can show the planning dates as below:
Next tab, The Geographical selection profile plans based on source locations/Zones or Destination
locations/Zones. Here Shipping point locations are set up as source locations hence only the
maintained locations are part of Freight unit selections.

Next Tab, we configure Additional Selection Attributes which plans only on selected Freight unit
types= ZSO and ZSTO and shipping condition =01. This additional selection profile will ensure only
selected Freight unit types having service level= 01 should be selected for delivery creation. The
additional fields provides us a lot of fields from standard TM tables to choose from depending on
business requirements.

we create Delivery Profile for the creation of delivery per Freight unit. Also, no Deliveries should be
created for FU/FO blocked for planning or execution.

Below is the variant set up for automatic triggering in a batch job. Only planned freight units should
be considered for delivery creation, which ensures all Freight units having freight orders are only
considered. A Freight Unit Selection Profile and a Delivery Profile configured in previous steps is
assigned here.

The programme created deliveries 1500000739 for FO: 100000522 and 1500000740 for FO:
100000724.
The programme did not consider the FUs- 2000014229 and 2000014231 for delivery creation.
