Protocol for IPL Hair Removal
1. Consultation: The client is greeted and asked to complete a consultation form to
assess their skin type, hair color, and any concerns or contraindications. The
esthetician will review the form and discuss the client's expectations and desired
outcome for the IPL hair removal treatment.
2. Preparation: The client is escorted to a treatment room and given time to prepare
for the IPL hair removal treatment, including removing any makeup or jewelry.
The esthetician will ensure that the client is comfortably positioned on the
treatment table.
3. Shave: The client's hair in the treatment area is shaved prior to the IPL treatment
to ensure the light can reach the hair follicle effectively.
4. Patch Test: A small patch test is performed to determine the client's skin reaction
and ensure the IPL settings are appropriate for their skin and hair type.
5. Eye Protection: The client's eyes are protected with safety goggles to prevent
damage from the intense light.
6. Application of Gel: A cooling gel is applied to the treatment area to help protect
the skin and enhance the effectiveness of the IPL treatment.
7. IPL Treatment: The esthetician will use the IPL device to deliver pulses of light to
the treatment area. The light is absorbed by the hair follicles, which damages
them and inhibits hair growth.
8. Post-Treatment Care: After the IPL treatment is complete, the esthetician will
remove any excess gel and apply a soothing cream or gel to the treatment area.
The client will be given post-treatment instructions and advice on how to care for
their skin after the IPL treatment. This may include avoiding sun exposure, using
gentle skincare products, and staying hydrated.
9. Follow-Up: The esthetician may schedule a follow-up appointment to monitor
the client's progress and make any necessary adjustments to their IPL treatment
plan.
Note: The above protocol is a general guideline, and the specific settings and techniques
used may vary depending on the client's skin and hair type. Additionally, it's important
to note that IPL hair removal is not suitable for all skin and hair types, and some clients
may experience side effects such as redness, swelling, or changes in skin color. Clients
should be fully informed of the risks and benefits of IPL hair removal before
undergoing treatment
