"The Seductive Substance"
Right now, in the Philippines, the proliferation or use of illicit drugs
continues, which is why it's still difficult for officials to crack them down.
Substance use and drug abuse are still growing in the Philippines and very
unpredictable on what would happen shortly. But what are these Drugs, Drug
Abuse, and Drugs of Abuse?
Drugs are any substances or chemicals which when taken into the body
either through nasal, oral, transdermal, or intravenous wherein it may affect
you psychologically, emotionally, and behavioral. Drug abuse is the use of
drugs for non-medical purposes and it could leave damages inside your body
such as brain damage, liver damage, and even kidney damage. On the other
hand, Drugs of abuse are drugs that are commonly used or abused by the
users, these are the main or most used drugs in the Philippines; the shabu the
most used, marijuana, and inhalants.
The use and misuse of drugs is a growing issue in the Philippines. As per
the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), an international drug
monitoring agency, the Philippines is one of the countries in Southeast Asia
where drug trafficking is on the increase. In the Philippines, drug use and
abuse is a social and health concern and poverty is one of the reasons why
some people are being involved in such bad habits. And some of them are also
the cause of rapes, stealing, drug dealings, and even deaths.
So as for me, I really had goosebumps on how rapidly spread throughout
the Philippines and even to the world this kind of seductive substance that
literally changed people's lives. This kind of controversial issue is also due to
the influence of family, friends, and fellow human beings so each one of us
needs to exercise self-control and communicate with others in order to reduce
this kind of problem that is almost never going to stop but at least we can do
something for someone to enjoy their lives and overcome their problems.
