for our makeup class because of EDSA PEOPLE POWER ANNIVERSARY. We came to
School together with BSN 1 section A at the NB304-305 room before 1:00 pm to
colle
accomplish our attendance sheet paper. Our
CI, Ma'am Kizzy Ann Peñaverde started our
class at exactly 1:00 pm
She discussed about out lecture on ASEPSIS. I learned that this is the absence of
any microorganisms. She also discussed about Nature of Infection. Infection are results
when a pathogen invades tissues and begins growing within a host. She then next
discussed colonization, communicable disease and Infectious disease. I also learned that
all communicable disease are infectious and not all infectious disease are communicable.
There are two types of infection which are the symptomatic and asymptomatic. Next that
was discussed is the Chain of Infection which are the Infectious Agent, Reservoir, Portal
of Exit, Mode of Transmission, Portal of Entry, and Susceptible Host. Ma'am Kizzy explain
about the Breaking of Chain of Infection, The Infectious Process, Types of Infection, Signs
of Localized Infection (5 Cardinal Signs) and Signs of Systemic Infection. The Health careAssociated Infections are result from the delivery of health services in a health care facility.
Under this, are the Nosocomial Infections, Exogenous Infections and Endogenous
Infections. Our CI gave us a 5 mins bladder break. When our class resumed, Ma'am Kizzy
continued her discussion about the Anatomic and Physiologic Barriers Defend Against
Infection followed by the Factors Increasing Susceptibility to Infection, Nanda Diagnosis,
Infection Control under this are the SEPSIS and ASEPSIS. In ASEPSIS, I learned that
there are two types which are the Medical and Surgical Asepsis. Next is the Methods of
Infection Control, the Isolation Precautions which has a 2 Tier; the Tier 1(Standards
Precautions) and the Tier 2(Transmission-based Precautions), next is all about Personal
Protective Equipment. I learned that Surgical Asepsis is a sterile technique that prevents
contamination of an open wound, serves to isolate an operative area from the unsterile
environment. The last that was discussed is the Principles of Surgical Asepsis.
At 4:30 pm, Ma'am Kizzy started the sterile gloves demonstration before the PostTest. We, students in BSN 1 section A and E started to take a video for our guidance. The
Post-Test started around 4:45 pm. We were given a minute for each question for us to
answer. The Post-Test was done around 5:10 and we started to exchange papers for
checking. After the checking, we returned the papers to its owner. Ma'am Kizzy collected
the papers from highest to lowest. Our class meet ended around 5:30 pm. Before leaving,
the group 3 was assigned for the week 4 aftercare in the NB304-305 room.
