Questions
1.Describe two ways in which smog can negatively affect the agricultural
Industry.
Smog, mixture of air pollutants, two ways in which smog can negatively
affect the agricultural industry are:
1. Crop yields can be reduced, smog can reduced the amount of sunlight
that reaches the crop which means a decrease in photosynthesis, the
pollutants from the smog can also damage the plants leaves and reduce
the ability to produce food which results in growth problems in plants
2. Contamination of soil and water, the pollutants from the smog can get
into water and soil sources contaminating them making it not suitable for
agricultural purposes, For example, high levels of sulfur dioxide in smog
can lead to the acidification of soil, which can reduce soil fertility and
decrease crop yields.
2. Describe two ways in which acid rain can negatively affect the
agricultural industry
Two ways in which acid rain can negatively affect the agricultural
industry are:
1. Crop damage, Acid rain can damage crops directly by burning the
stems and leaves of the plant which can lead to decreased crop
yields, Acid rain can also weaken plants making them vulnerable to
pests and diseases, Acid rain can lead to death of entire crops, acid
rain also damages water sources
2. Soil acidification, Acid rain can increase the acidity soil which can
negative effects on plant growth and the productivity of crops, The
acidity of soil can affect the availability of nutrients that plants need to
grow
3. Describe two ways in which greenhouse gases impacts can
negatively affect the agricultural industry.
Two ways in which greenhouse gases can negatively affect the agricultural
industry are:
1. Ozone exposure can also make plants more vulnerable to other problems like
drought, disease, and insect damage. This can reduce crop yield and quality
even further, This can further decrease crop yield and quality, ultimately
impacting, making it less desirable to sell and for consumption
2. High ozone levels can also affect livestock by causing causing respiratory
issues , Ozone exposure can also affect the quality of livestock products such
as meat and milk. In some cases, it can lead to a decrease in milk production,
and also reproduction.
