Typhoon Preparedness
In life, we come across many challenges. Let's take typhoons as an example. Blown with the wind, deaths
due to flash floods, fallen trees, and even landslides. There's basically a lot of things that can and might happen during a
typhoon. And if so, how do we even prepare ourselves from a typhoon?
People mostly say,"hey what do we do during a typhoon?". But we should first get to know how we can
prepare ourselves before a typhoon occurs. First, listen to the news about the occurring typhoon and know how near it is
to your location. Second, always make sure to have supplies on you, like batteries and a flashlight, first aid kit clothes,
have an emergency hotline, and most importantly water and food. Lastly you should evacuate when local authorities have
told you to do so, and if you also live in a weak home, you should just pack your things and evacuate instead. So what
can we do during a typhoon? What we can do is first, we should always monitor the news or radio for weather updates.
Second, don't just go outside, there can be lots of harmful things inbound your way. Third, you should refrain from using
our appliances during typhoons and unplug them to be safe, and if possible make sure to turn off the circuit breaker or
main electrical power switch. Lastly we should put our important appliances and belongings on high ground, we don't
want any of those getting wet. I've talked about what we can do before and during a typhoon, so now what do we do after
a typhoon? After a typhoon, we should always make sure to follow safety procedures such as to avoid floodwaters and
we also gotta watch out for live wires which are submerged under water. If you have evacuated, only return to your house
after authorities deem it safe, and if your house was badly damaged or destroyed make sure that it is safe and stable
before entering, and lastly, we should clean our home and surroundings which are affected by flood as chemicals and
even sewage water may have contaminated these, wear the appropriate gear to do the job such as Gloves and enclosed
footwear.
With all counts and proven results, a lot of possible accidents have been reduced and have not occurred
upon following proper procedures on what we can do before, during and after a typhoon. If you are one of the people who
do and follow proper procedures during the times of a typhoon then it is safe to say that you are Typhoon Ready.
