Camp Pangatian Memorial Shrine
It is the largest Prisoner War Camp in the Philippines which housed thousands of US troops.
Originality
The Camp Pangatian Memorial Shrine is a 550-meter camp surrounded by barbed wire fencing
and four guard towers It contains monuments and memorabilia of the events that transpired
during the occupation.
Uniqueness
A long dirt road, between rows of cypress trees, leads to the memorial. The focal point is a huge
marble niche with simply the name “Cabanatuan” engraved on it.
Indigenousness
The concrete foundations of a water tank, at the back of the memorial, is the only structure that
remains of the original Pangatian Concentration Camp. This this was preserve up to this day.
Authenticity
The Camp Pangatian Memorial Shrine is an original military camp which transformed into a
concentration camp for refugees during the Japanese revolution.
Historicity
This military Camp was liberated in 1945 and the memorial was erected in 1982. Twenty years
of its operation as military camp, before it was converted to an interment camp for Allied
prisoners of war.
Magnitude
Some of the tourists from neighboring provinces visit the Camp Pangatian Memorial Shrine for
picture taking. This place is also perfect for prenuptial videos and photos and picnic place for
family and friends bonding. Playgrounds for children were built also in this area.
Excellence
Although, the Camp Pangatian is a military place, positive feedback from the visitors and tourists
about its beauty and solemnity expressed by them. This is also very accessible to all types of
vehicles because it is along the national road.

resemblance of Palawan because of its natural rock formations and landscape.

The 2018 hectare Minalungao National Park boasts a crystal-clear river that is very suitable for
various activities such as rafting, river cruise, and swimming during summer season.
Labi River
The river at the foot of Sierra Madre mountain ranges with a crystal-clear and cold water like
Dupinga River.

The Labi river is one of the tourist attractions in the Nueva Ecija having the benefits of Sierra
Madre mountain. It has the abundance of flowing water that is a source of living for many.
Uniqueness
Labi river may not yet be on the radar of travelers looking for new destinations, but it has
become the favorite weekend place for others especially for bikers and hikers.

Alongside with the river are nipa huts which utilized as transient for picnic goers and nature
lovers.

The range of its water is far longer and wider than the Dupinga River. The water flows slower
than the Dupinga which is suggested to be child-friendly.

This tourist attraction is a historical footnote. It was a place where Doña Aurora Quezon was
ambushed in 1949.
