The following illustrations show some basic welding positions. Those to the left are the old
abbreviations. Those to the right are the new ones.
Can you match the old and the new ones correctly?
Say, for example: The abbreviation 1G was previously used for butt welds in a flat position. Today
we use the abbreviation PA when we refer to butt welds in a flat position.
