Purpose of the role
This role is an internship, open to recent University of Brighton graduates only who are
looking for entry to the job market and potentially to develop a career in marketing and
communications.
The Internal Communications team (in the Marketing and Communications department) is
responsible for communicating to all 21,000 current students and 2,800 colleagues to
support student/colleague success and retention.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Comms, this role has a particular focus on developing,
creating and editing compelling video content and graphic design that brings to life the
University to life for students and colleagues.
Main areas of responsibility:
Multi-media including photography and film





To work closely with the Student and Staff Comms Officers to generate ideas on how
to bring campaigns to life through video, graphic design, and other digital media
Developing content from brief to execution. For example, working on ideas for a film,
capturing footage and soundbites, editing and taking on board amends, publishing.
To work closely with the Design Team to understand the University of Brighton
brand, and ensure it is reflected in our comms
To design materials and content for publications, websites and email campaigns
To bring ideas and best practice to the Communications team to ensure our digital
communications remain clear, on brand, and relevant


Interviewing internal staff or external stakeholders as required; writing up in a format
as requested by the team on a case-by-case basis.
Using your recent experience of being a student to develop a relevant style/tone
through video and graphic design that speaks to the audience

producing quality audio-visual content; using video
software such as Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro,
Photoshop, After Effects, etc.

Demonstrable experience of capturing film and
photographs for mobile-journalism-style
communication or storytelling (examples might
include work produced as part of coursework or
personal projects).


Any appointment is generally made at the bottom of the salary range for the grade
dependent upon experience and previous salary.
This is a full time post and is fixed term (one year)

Annual leave entitlements are shown in the table below and increase after 5 years’
